The DEA office in El Paso, Texas has been busy seizing the uptick of drugs coming across the southern border. According to a report on Friday, DEA agents were already on track to exceed drug seizures from both 2020 and 2019.

The agency said during the first five months of the fiscal year 2021, agents have seized more than 3,100 pounds of meth, heroin, fentanyl and cocaine.

Officials said this came amid an influx of migrants and drugs entering the country.

In the meantime, the Biden administration has weighed the option of sending illegal immigrants to the U.S.-Canadian border for processing. According to a new report by the Washington Post on Friday, CBP will request planes to transport the migrants to northern states.

The move came in response to the influx of migrant apprehensions at the southern border, which has overwhelmed holding facilities in Texas. As of Friday, 1,000 unaccompanied minors have crossed the Rio Grande with another thousand awaiting processing at the border.

Meanwhile, the White House has yet to comment on the matter.
