GOP Congressman Criticized for Targeting Christian Woman’s Faith

Rep. Max Miller (R-OH)‍ faced intense backlash this week from all corners of the political Right after criticizing a ⁤woman’s heartfelt social media post about her Christian ⁢faith.

The woman, Republican activist Lizzie Marbach, passionately⁢ wrote on X: ⁣“There’s no hope for any of us outside of ‌having faith in Jesus Christ alone.”

Miller’s response was swift and controversial:⁢ “This is one of the most bigoted tweets I have ever seen. Delete it, Lizzie. Religious freedom in the United States applies to every religion. You have gone too far.”

Miller faced widespread criticism from within⁢ the Republican‍ Party and the conservative political spectrum.

“Do your constituents know that you consider basic Christian teaching to ‍be ‘bigoted’?”⁤ asked Daily Wire podcast host ‌Matt⁤ Walsh. “They do now I⁢ guess.‍ Good luck in the next election!”

Pro-Trump political commentator Jack Posobiec posted: “Real talk: You are a sitting GOP Congressman yet have zero tweets about Fani⁣ Willis and the corrupt prosecution of the GOP frontrunner, but instead decided to take the time today ⁢to launch an attack [on] a pro-life‍ staffer for ⁢professing her faith. And you wonder why Republicans lose.”

Political commentator Allie Beth Stuckey responded: “What a weird, disturbing thing you’ve tweeted. This is basic Christianity. John⁢ 14:6. Anyone who is actually a Christian believes this. Lizzie said nothing about forcing people⁣ to believe as she believes.”

“Religious liberty means you’re⁢ free to believe that, and Lizzie is free to believe in her faith; and a sitting congressman ⁤like Max has no authority to order either of you to shut up about your ⁤beliefs,” said DeSantis Rapid Response Director Christina Pushaw. “He ⁢seems to fundamentally misunderstand what religious liberty means.”

Former Trump cabinet member Russ Vought⁤ wrote: “I expect it from Bernie Sanders but a Republican‌ Congressman from Ohio with thousands‍ of Christian constituents & the son-in-law of the candidate everyone is ⁢telling me is the most conservative in the ⁢race? Hard to believe.”

Miller‍ later apologized for his tweet after facing pushback from fellow Republicans, writing: “I posted something⁢ earlier that conveyed a message I did not intend. I will not try to hide my mistake or run from it. I sincerely apologize to Lizzie and to everyone who⁤ read my post.”
