Republican debate: McEnany hails Ramaswamy as an ‘outsider’.
Former White House Press Secretary Praises Vivek Ramaswamy as an “Authentic” and “Outsider” Candidate
Former White House press secretary Kayleigh McEnany had high praise for Republican presidential candidate Vivek Ramaswamy, describing him as “smart,” “authentic,” and an “outsider.” McEnany drew comparisons between Ramaswamy and former President Donald Trump during the 2016 GOP primary. She shared her thoughts on Fox News’s Fox and Friends, emphasizing the importance of these qualities in a candidate.
“He’s smart, he’s authentic, and he is the o-word: an outsider. Remember Donald Trump, 2016, he was an outsider, he was authentic, he was real,” McEnany said.
McEnany also addressed the recent negative coverage surrounding Ramaswamy, suggesting that his rival may be behind the hit pieces. She highlighted that most of the attacks have focused on his foreign policy positions and advised him to reconsider his stance on certain controversial issues.
Ramaswamy has faced criticism for his comments on cutting off funding to Israel and potentially allowing China to invade Taiwan. These remarks have sparked controversy and raised concerns among some voters. Additionally, he faced backlash for questioning whether federal agents were involved in the 9/11 terrorist attacks and the Capitol riot on January 6, 2021.
Despite the controversies, Ramaswamy has gained significant support in the polls. He currently ranks as high as third place, trailing behind Trump and Gov. Ron DeSantis (R-FL), with an average of 7.2% of the GOP primary vote according to RealClearPolitics.
Ramaswamy, along with other top GOP contenders, will be participating in the upcoming debate in Milwaukee. Notably, former President Trump will not be attending. The debate will be televised on Fox News at 9 p.m. EDT.
