Republicans bash Harris after plane circled extra 15 minutes to watch husband’s DNC speech – Washington Examiner
During the Democratic National Convention (DNC), Vice President Kamala Harris drew criticism from Republicans after her plane, Air Force Two, circled the airport for an additional 15 minutes so she could watch her husband, Doug Emhoff, deliver a speech. This occurred while she was returning from a campaign stop in Wisconsin. Critics quickly accused Harris of hypocrisy regarding her climate change stance, as her actions contradicted her advocacy for reducing fossil fuel usage and promoting environmental policies. Prominent Republican voices took to social media to label her actions as “fuel wasting” and indicative of an elitist attitude, questioning the sincerity of Democratic commitments to climate issues.

Republicans bashed Vice President Kamala Harris after her plane circled an extra 15 minutes so she could watch second gentleman Doug Emhoff’s speech.
Emhoff was one of the star speakers on the second night of the DNC, speaking ahead of former first lady Michelle Obama and former President Barack Obama. Harris was flying at the time of his speech, coming back from a campaign stop in Milwaukee, Wisconsin. According to CNN, Air Force Two circled the airport for 15 extra minutes so she could watch her husband’s speech uninterrupted.
Republicans were quick to accuse Harris of hypocrisy, given her stance on climate change.
“REMINDER: This fuel wasting comes as Harris seeks to ban fracking, push EV mandates on Americans, and restrict fossil fuel usage,” the Conservative War Machine X account said.
“Typical elitist Democrat — never practicing what they preach!” the Trump War Room account posted.
“Democrats are HYPOCRITES. What happened to the whole ‘climate change’ thing?” influencer Nick Sortor said.
Harris’s sudden ascension as the Democrats’ presidential candidate for 2024 resulted in a surge of enthusiasm among environmental activists, who see her as a close ally.
“It’s night and day,” Stevie O’Hanlon, a spokesman for the youth-led environmentalist Sunrise Movement, told NPR. “I think it’s clear to me talking to young people around the country that there’s a really big opportunity to totally change the game with the youth vote this November.”
