Republicans Considering Investigations Into Hunter, Fauci and Others After Midterms

Republicans are eyeing up possible probes after the midterm elections that will target Hunter Biden, Dr. Anthony Fauci, and the handling of the southern border crisis.

Past polls have suggested that Democrats are facing a “5-alarm fire,” there looms concerning views on the direction of the country under President Joe Biden, and the best midterm election projections for Republicans in 40 years. Republicans are not only hopeful that they will take the House and Senate, but also take the reins on probes following the 2022 midterm elections.

If Republicans garner a majority, they could launch probes on several fronts.

When The Hill asked Sen. Ron Johnson (R-Wis.) what he would like to investigate if the GOP gains a majority, he replied with a very vivid response, “Like everything? It’s like a mosquito in a nudist colony. It’s a target-rich environment.”

For Johnson, one of his top priorities is obtaining more transparency into the U.S. government’s handling of the COVID-19 pandemic.

“There’s so much more in terms of what happened with our federal health agencies that we need to explore,” Johnson claimed.

Last month, Sen. Rand Paul (R-Ky.) declared that he would continue to focus his attention Dr. Anthony Fauci.

“If we win in November, if I’m chairman of a committee, if I have subpoena power, we’ll go after every one of [Fauci’s] records,” Paul proclaimed.

Last week, Fauci – the government’s top infectious disease expert – hinted that he could be retiring soon.

Another potential probe target could be Hunter Biden and the suppression of the story surrounding his abandoned laptop.

The New York Times admitted last week that key parts of the Hunter Biden laptop story – which first broke in October 2020 – could now be authenticated. The story was suppressed by big tech – which former Attorney General Bill Barr recently said “definitely” had an effect on the 2020 presidential election. In addition, the New York Post had their Twitter account locked for 16 days

Johnson said Republicans have been attempting to get Hunter Biden’s travel records “for a couple of years now.”

Republican Rep. Claudia Tenney from New York suggested that a probe should be launched.

“Big Tech’s censorship of a story the liberal media has now acknowledged to be true just proves that a Republican House majority must take meaningful action to rein in Big Tech censors next year,” Tenney declared. “All options should be on the table, including probes into their conduct and its impact on the Democratic process.”

Rep. Darrell Issa (R-Calif.) called for a Congressional investigation into the alleged Hunter Biden scandal and subsequent cover-up.

“Tonight, I’m calling for a Congressional investigation into how big tech, mainstream media, and the Democrat industrial complex colluded to suppress the Hunter Biden scandals — and during the last days of the 2020 election,” Issa tweeted on Thursday.

Republican National Committee Chairwoman Ronna McDaniel demanded “accountability” on how big tech has conducted itself.

“Big Tech censored questions about COVID’s origins. They censored stories on Hunter Biden’s laptop. They removed conservatives from their platforms but not Iran and Russian propagandists,” McDaniel proclaimed. “What’s next? We need accountability!”

Staten Island GOP Rep. Nicole Malliotakis lamented, “It’s sad. We’re all talking about disinformation in Russia and other totalitarian countries and we are learning that we have it right here at home.”

Sen. Ted Cruz (R-Texas) told the New York Post, “The most basic accountability requires firing those responsible for the ‘Russian disinfo’ lie about the Biden family’s corruption, including and especially the former intelligence officials who were elevated to the top of cable news because they pushed wild and unsubstantiated Russia conspiracy theories about President Trump.”

Meanwhile, Sen. Rick Scott (R-Fla.) has been calling for an investigation into the southern border crisis since November.

Another possible Congressional investigation could be the disastrous U.S. withdrawal from Afghanistan.

On Wednesday, Sen. Josh Hawley (R-Mo.) called for an investigation into the Afghanistan withdrawal.

“The American public wants and deserves accountability for what transpired in Afghanistan last year,” Hawley wrote in a letter to Senate Armed Services Committee Chairman Jack Reed (D-RI).

“One Senator said it was ‘categorically untrue’ that the Biden administration had months of warning that the Afghan government might collapse rapidly. This is wrong,” Hawley stated. “As the Central Command report and other sources show, multiple commanders of U.S. forces in Afghanistan advised the Administration in the spring and summer of 2021 to prepare for the rapid collapse of the Afghan government. But the Administration ignored them.”

“We need oversight hearings on this — on what they have found and on the withdrawal from Afghanistan,” Hawley said in an interview, according to The Hill. “I would favor a select committee that is bipartisan, but I think Congress needs to do some oversight.”
