GOP candidates for vulnerable House seats plan stricter immigration policies on border tour.

Republican House Candidates Visit Yuma, Arizona to Address Border Crisis

Over the weekend, several Republican House candidates competing in ‌competitive districts made a visit ‌to Yuma, Arizona. Their purpose was to tour the U.S.-Mexico ⁣border and meet ⁢with community officials⁢ who are actively dealing with the⁢ border crisis.

These Republicans, hailing⁣ from different states, are ⁣determined to flip seats currently held ‍by Democrats. Their goal is to maintain and expand the GOP’s slim majority in the ‌lower chamber. Leading the⁤ group⁢ was Jonathan Lines, Vice Chairman of the Board ⁣of⁣ Supervisors.

The candidates expressed their ⁢strong opposition to President ‍Joe Biden’s border‌ policies and the current House members representing‍ their districts.

New York Democrats Aim to Regain Control‌ of the House

In New York, Democrats are hoping to‌ regain control of the ‌House by flipping as many as six seats won by Republicans in 2022. One of the candidates, Alison Esposito, recently ‌entered‌ the race against Rep. Pat Ryan (D-NY).

The‌ influx of over ‍100,000 immigrants into ‌New‌ York City over the past year ‌has caused disputes among local leaders. Both Democrats and Republicans have called on President Biden to provide more federal assistance.

“Under President‍ Biden and his far-left supporters in Congress, our border is nonexistent,” said‍ Esposito,‌ a ⁢retired NYPD officer. ⁤”Each day, more ‍fentanyl and illegal migrants flood our borders, ‍threatening our national security. It is long‍ past due for the⁣ president, Secretary Mayorkas, and⁢ the so-called border czar Kamala Harris to ⁣stop lying⁤ to the American people by saying the border is secure and do their job. Enough‌ is enough.”

Earlier this year, Rep. Ryan and⁣ Rep. Mike Lawler ⁢(R-NY) called⁢ on the federal ‍government to declare a state of emergency for New York⁢ due to the immigrant surge. Ryan has‍ supported bipartisan‌ actions to address the‍ issue and combat the flow of fentanyl into the country.

“I’ve been ‌clear since day one: we have a crisis at the border,” Ryan⁤ stated. “I led a‍ bipartisan call for ⁤the President to declare a state of emergency, and am fighting for pragmatic solutions, including allowing asylum seekers to work and bolstering border security ⁢to stop the flow of fentanyl into our communities.”

Republican Candidates Across the Country Speak Out

Republican candidate Joe Teirab, a former federal prosecutor and Marine Corps veteran, launched his House bid in‌ October. He aims to unseat Rep. Angie Craig (D-MN) ⁤in Minnesota’s most competitive congressional district.

“The border crisis doesn’t only impact communities along our southern ⁣border, but communities all⁢ across the country ⁤and ⁢Minnesota,” Teirab emphasized. “Angie ⁤Craig and Joe Biden have failed the American people by refusing to secure our border ⁢and allowing endless flows of illicit fentanyl, methamphetamine, and human trafficking.”

Rep. Rob Mercuri, a Republican state representative, is running against Rep.⁤ Chris‌ Deluzio (D-PA) in Pennsylvania’s only competitive House seat. Mercuri strongly criticized President Biden’s leadership and ⁣border stance.

“The⁣ Biden‍ administration’s failure to⁤ secure our southern border has created a humanitarian and national security crisis, and Chris Deluzio seems to ⁤be ignoring it,” ‍Mercuri asserted. “As a veteran who⁣ fought to⁤ protect⁤ our country on two tours, what I ‌saw was hard to ⁣believe. The open border is allowing drugs, human trafficking, and gang and terrorist violence into our country. President Biden and Chris Deluzio need to wake up and get serious about border security.”

Retired 17th Circuit Court Judge Joe McGraw is competing in‌ Illinois’s⁤ swing district ‌currently held by Rep. Eric Sorensen‍ (D-IL).⁣ McGraw supports building a border wall while advocating for a reformed pathway to citizenship for undocumented immigrants.

“I am running for Congress to restore⁢ law and order because Joe⁤ Biden and Eric Sorensen’s open borders policies have made every single state a border state,” McGraw declared. “The scourge of fentanyl and ⁢other ⁢lethal narcotics is‌ tearing Illinois families apart while everyday citizens are being forced to bear the cost ⁣to take care of millions of illegal migrants. It’s wrong and Illinois families deserve someone who is going‌ to fight for them‌ and their safety.”

Rep. Sorensen has expressed support for significant immigration reform and providing resources‍ to local communities dealing with the influx of immigrants.

“We need to make sure that we’re solving the‌ crisis at the ‌border,” Sorensen emphasized. “We need⁤ to make sure‍ that we know every person that’s crossing ‌the border, and we have ‍to secure it. That also means that‍ we’re securing the ability for migrant farm workers to achieve the visas ‌that ⁤they need.”

The Washington Examiner reached out to the⁣ campaigns⁣ of Rep. Craig, ‌Rep. Deluzio, and Rep. Sorensen for comment.

What specific ⁣actions ‌has the current administration taken to address the border crisis, according to the Republican candidates?

Ticized‍ the⁤ current administration’s handling‍ of the border⁢ crisis and expressed his commitment to securing the border and protecting American communities.

“The Biden administration has shown a complete disregard for the safety and security of⁤ our communities. We need a⁢ strong leader who will⁢ prioritize border security and put an end‌ to the illegal⁣ immigration crisis that is plaguing‌ our ⁤country,” Mercuri ⁢stated. “I will fight tirelessly to‍ secure our borders, support our law enforcement, and ensure the safety of every American.”

These Republican candidates’ visit to Yuma, Arizona, highlights their commitment⁢ to addressing the border crisis and holding the current‌ administration accountable ‍for its policies. The tour allowed them to observe firsthand the challenges faced by border communities and⁣ engage with local officials who are working tirelessly to manage the crisis.

The candidates emphasized the urgent‍ need for⁢ effective ‌border security‍ measures ⁣and the importance of preventing illegal immigration, drug trafficking, and human ⁣trafficking. They called on President Biden, Secretary Mayorkas, and Vice President Harris to take immediate ⁤action and address the⁢ growing crisis at the border.

With the midterm ⁤elections approaching, these Republican ⁣candidates are focused⁢ on raising awareness about the border crisis and its impact on communities across ⁤the⁢ country. They aim to rally support from voters ⁣who are concerned about national security, public safety, and the rule of law.

As the race ⁤for control of the⁣ House intensifies, these candidates will continue to highlight ‌their positions on immigration and border security, differentiating themselves from their Democratic opponents. They believe that securing the border and effectively addressing the border crisis are essential for the safety and ⁣well-being of all Americans.

Ultimately,‌ the ‍Republican candidates’ ⁣visit to Yuma, Arizona, serves as a reminder that the‌ border crisis is a significant issue that requires urgent attention and action. They‌ are committed to being strong advocates for their districts and ensuring ‌that⁤ the border is secure, our communities⁢ are protected, and the rule of law is upheld.
