A far-left Israeli nonprofit is working to oust Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and his conservative authorities coalition, and a group of Democratic senators are urging the Biden administration to” soon cease funding.”

Ted Cruz( Texas ), Marco Rubio( Fla ), and Tom Cotton( Ark) are the four Republican senators. The Movement for Quality Government ( MQG ), a left-wing Israeli nonprofit that is spearheading nationwide protests against Netanyahu’s’s government over plans to reform the country ‘ historically potent Supreme Court, was criticized by both Bill Hagerty ( Tennessee ) and the State Department for allocating taxpayer funds to the organization. those programs that have been put on hold as a result of widespread protests organized by MQG.

The Washington Free Beacon reported in March that the left-wing organization has received more than$ 38,000 in funding from the US since 2020. How a political strange organization was able to achieve American dollars has been questioned in light of the funding. In order to avoid giving the impression of political meddling, the State Department usually refrains from supporting political groups.

The cash for MQG coincides with the tense relationship between Netanyahu and the Biden administration. After the Israeli prime minister won the 2022 election, President Joe Biden waited more than a week to contact Netanyahu. He has recently stated that he won’t be inviting Netanyahu to the White House anytime soon due to agitation over the Supreme Court reform time. Officials from the Biden administration have criticized Netanyahu’s’s conflict with the Israeli Supreme Court, claiming that the latter is undermining Israeli state politics.

The backing of MQG, according to Democratic senators, shows that the Biden administration backs the opposition group’s’s attempts to unseat Netanyahu and topple his ruling coalition.

The senators wrote,” This habit of State Department financing political organizations in an allied politics is unethical.” Which side of the political spectrum a given business is on is irrelevant. We may rightfully find quite strange disturbance in our democracy unacceptable if the government of a U.S. partner or ally funded political organizations in the United States.

The politicians also point out that the State Department has a history of allocating tax money to partisan Jewish groups that oppose Netanyahu, Israel’s’s longest-serving leader.

They wrote,” However, this is not the first day that left-wing partisan corporations in Israel have used State Department funds.”

The State Department sent more than$ 300,000 to the OneVoice movement, another far-left Israeli organization that ultimately diverted” these resources for the political purpose of launching a grassroots campaign in Israel to elect’ anyone but Bibi ] Netanyahu” in the 2015 Israeli parliamentary election, according to information uncovered in 2016 by the Senate Permanent Subcommittee on Investigations.

Netanyahu responded to the Biden administration’s’s criticism of his public late last month by saying,” Israel is a sovereign nation that makes its actions by the will of its people and not based on pressure from abroad, including from the best of friends.”
