RFK Jr. asserts support for abortion ban beyond first trimester.

Democratic 2024 Presidential ⁢Hopeful‍ Robert F. Kennedy ⁣Jr. Takes a ⁣Stand on ⁣Abortion

During a recent campaign stop ‌in Iowa,​ Robert F. Kennedy Jr., a potential candidate for the 2024 presidential election,⁢ made his stance on abortion crystal clear. As he attended the State Fair alongside other presidential hopefuls, Kennedy engaged in a Q&A session with​ NBC ⁤News, ⁢where the topic of abortion was brought up.

“I believe a decision to abort a​ child should be up ⁤to the women during ‌the first three⁤ months of life,” Kennedy told the outlet.

Kennedy further explained that he supports a federal ban on abortion at 15 or 21⁣ weeks, once ⁢the child becomes viable ‍outside the womb. He ⁢emphasized his belief in medical freedom and the importance of individuals being able to ⁣make their ⁣own⁢ choices.

In the⁤ race for the Democratic presidential nomination, ‌Kennedy finds ​himself competing against President ​Joe Biden and author Marianne Williamson. Biden recently marked ‌the anniversary of the Supreme Court’s ruling in Dobbs v. Jackson⁤ Women’s Health Organization, which removed federal protection of the procedure. He listed the administration’s ‍efforts to protect access to reproductive health throughout the year. On the other hand,⁤ Williamson pledges⁢ on⁣ her website to fiercely resist any attempts to restrict or diminish‍ the reproductive ⁢rights granted by Roe‍ v. Wade.

A recent survey revealed that in a hypothetical Democratic primary ​race, 64% of respondents‌ would choose Biden, ‍while 13% expressed ‌support for Robert F. Kennedy Jr.​ Marianne Williamson garnered ⁢10% of the support, and 12% ‍remained undecided.

Despite his late father’s political legacy as a senator and presidential candidate, this is Kennedy’s first foray into the⁢ world of politics. Meanwhile, ​Williamson ⁢previously ran for ⁤office in 2020.
