RFK Jr. Proudly Accepts Trump’s Approval, Avoids Interviewer’s Bait.
Democratic presidential candidate Robert Kennedy Jr. proud to have Trump’s approval
During a town hall event on NewsNation, Democratic presidential candidate Robert Kennedy Jr. expressed his pride in receiving praise from former President Donald Trump. Host Elizabeth Vargas highlighted the broad support Kennedy has garnered from across the political spectrum, including Trump’s complimentary remarks.
Vargas attempted to provoke Kennedy by portraying him as a “spoiler” candidate and questioning if he reciprocated Trump’s sentiment. However, Kennedy refused to take the bait and instead emphasized his commitment to bringing people together.
Kennedy drew inspiration from his father, former Attorney General Robert F. Kennedy Sr., who was known for his ability to unify people. He shared a touching story about accompanying his father’s body on a funeral train in 1968, where Americans from all walks of life paid their respects.
Addressing Trump’s opinion of him, Kennedy stated, “I’m proud that President Trump likes me, even though I don’t agree with him on most of his issues, because I don’t want to alienate people. I want to bring people together.”
Kennedy concluded by expressing his pride in having support from a diverse range of individuals, including independent and Democratic supporters.
Positive reception and polling
Currently, Kennedy is polling at around 20 percent in the Democratic primary. Additionally, according to FiveThirtyEight, four in 10 Democrats desire a different candidate than President Joe Biden for the White House after 2024.
Trump, when asked about Kennedy, spoke highly of him during an interview with radio host Howie Carr. He described Kennedy as a smart and good person, with his heart in the right place.
