RFK Jr. shares 14-year addiction battle, triumphs with faith in God.

Politicians and God: A Personal Journey of Faith

Politicians often invoke God for cynical reasons. They may do so to appear pious, claim divine approval for policy proposals, or align with the priorities of their constituents.

However, when a politician shares a personal story of how God has impacted their life, and there is visible evidence to support that claim, it becomes a powerful testimony of God’s love.

Recently, Democratic presidential candidate Robert F. Kennedy Jr. opened up about how turning to God helped him break a 14-year addiction to drugs. In a wide-ranging discussion on Lex Fridman’s podcast, Kennedy shared his eye-opening perspective.

The Kennedy clan has faced many tragic episodes of drug and alcohol abuse, and RFK Jr.’s addiction began at a young age. Despite his religious upbringing, he had to find his way back to God before he could overcome his addiction.

During the podcast, Kennedy also emphasized the role of science, specifically the work of psychiatrist Carl Jung, in reconnecting him with a personal relationship with God.

Kennedy’s journey to faith started with a simple act of pretending to believe in God, but it was enough to initiate his transformation. As Jesus said in Matthew 17:20-21, “Truly, I say to you, if you have faith like a grain of mustard seed, you will say to this mountain, ‘Move from here to there,’ and it will move, and nothing will be impossible for you.”

For Kennedy, God accomplished the impossible. His desire for drugs and alcohol was miraculously lifted, and he saw it as a true miracle in his life.

Despite starting with a “fake it ’til you make it” faith, Kennedy positioned himself in humility and surrender to God. This authenticity and willingness to speak the truth have made him stand out among other politicians.

By openly discussing the role of faith in his life and acknowledging his flaws, Kennedy appears more genuine and relatable. It is this authenticity that has gained him traction in his unlikely attempt to secure the Democratic presidential nomination.

His willingness to question Big Pharma and even criticize Anthony Fauci, a revered figure on the left, further demonstrates his commitment to truth and serving both God and the country.

If RFK Jr. remains sincere in his desire to serve God and the country, he will undoubtedly have much more to say.
