‘Rick and Morty’ Co-Creator Breaks Silence After Domestic Violence Charges Are Dropped: ‘Horrible Lies’

Domestic violence charges filed against “Rick and Morty” co-creator Justin Roiland were dropped, which led him to issue a statement via social media.

“I have always known that these claims were false – and I never had any doubt this day would come,” Roiland tweeted in a screenshot he captioned “justice.”

“I’m thankful that this case has been dismissed but, at the same time, I’m still deeply shaken by the horrible lies that were reported about me during this process,” the animated series creator continued. 

Most of all, I’m surprised that so many people made snap judgments based solely on the term of an enraged to trying to get around the legal system and had me” canceled.” It is dishonorable that it might have been successful, especially in part. But now that the legal situation is over, I’m determined to move forward and concentrate on both my original work and clearing my name.

 

The domestic violence charges were filed in May 2020 regarding an alleged incident from January of that year. A woman identified as Jane Doe accused Roiland of two felonies: one count of domestic battery with corporal injury and one count of false imprisonment by menace, violence, fraud, and or deceit, as The Daily Wire previously reported.

These accusations were made people in January, which resulted in the co-creator of” Rick and Morty” being fired from Cartoon Network’s Adult Swim. The animated sci-fi show made its circle debut in 2013 and has enjoyed enormous success since.

After the claims came to light, Hulu also declared that the company would no longer collaborate with him on the sitcoms” Solar Opposites” and” Koala Man.”

Roiland was known for ad-libbing some of the speech and served as co-creator and executive producer. He already provided the voice for both mythical figures. The circle broke off ties with Roiland but vowed to continue airing” Rick and Morty ,” which elicited a range of reactions from viewers.

A representative with the Orange County District Attorney told IGN that charges were dropped because prosecutors “did not have sufficient evidence to prove the case beyond reasonable doubt,” in addition to “additional information that came to light during the investigation.”

More than a few sessions had already been held regarding the charges, according to the issue, and Roiland was scheduled to return to courtroom on April 27.
