Rick Scott Preparing for 2024 Presidential Bid
People familiar with the matter said that Republican South Carolin Senator Tim Scott plans to run for president in 2024. Wall Street Journal.
Jennifer DeCasper is a Scott senior adviser who told the outlet that Scott was “excited to share his vision of hope and opportunity and hear the American people’s response.”
Scott is apparently trying to get a message across to Republican voters in key early state areas that is focused on optimism, unity and unity. Some believe it’s time for the party move on from former President Donald Trump who declared his candidacy for the presidency shortly after the midterm elections.
Sources close to Scott acknowledge though that it currently isn’t clear whether Republican voters that had embraced Trump are ready to hear that message.
Scott has chosen former Senator Cory Gardener, and Rob Collins, former head of National Republican Senate Committee Rob Collins to co-chair a new super PAC.
On Thursday, the Senator will speak at a South Carolina county GOP dinner to celebrate Black History Month. He will be joined by fellow GOP South Carolinian. Nikki Haley She is expected to announce her candidacy. He is scheduled to speak in Iowa, the state that will host the Republican nomination process.
According to sources, Scott will travel extensively over the next few months according to the Wall Street Journal.
Scott is said to be close by people who know him. It would be challenging to raise his name recognition in a race that could draw many prominent Republicans including Trump and Haley.
“He truly believes that God is great and America is great and we are provided with incredible opportunities. So I think a Ronald Reagan ‘Morning in America’ hopeful America vision is one that Tim has, lives and breathes and is really needed in our country,” Sen. John Barrasso is the GOP Senate conference chair.
