Riley Gaines feels ‘vindicated’ since Trump’s executive order on women’s sports

Activist Riley Gaines expressed her “gratitude” for President Donald Trump’s executive order that prohibits transgender athletes from competing in women’s sports.

On Wednesday, President Donald Trump signed an executive order on women’s sports in an effort to keep biological men out of female leagues. As a result, activist Riley Gaines was invited to visit Capitol Hill during the day and shared about her experience on Fox News’s Hannity that night.

“To see President Trump’s decisive action today . . . it was a campaign promise of his, issue number 17 on his platform: No men in women sports,” Gaines said. “I can’t tell you what that means to me. Three years does not seem like a long time, but I feel vindicated, and I feel this overwhelming feeling of gratitude. Every day since January 20th I have been overwhelmed by God’s mercy that we certainly do not deserve.”

Fellow Hannity guest and personal trainer Jillian Michaels also credited Gaines for pushing the issue all the way to the White House.

“I thank you on behalf of my daughter and women across the country,” Michaels said.

As Trump signed the executive order, Gaines was surrounded by other girl athletes. Gaines had garnered popularity online after launching a social media campaign surrounding the debate about transgender women in sports. She has been outspoken on the issue ever since she tied for fifth for the 200-meter NCAA championships in 2022 with transgender swimmer Lia Thomas.

“The radical Left has waged an all-out campaign to erase the very concept of biological sex and replace it with a militant transgender ideology,” Trump said at the signing. “We hope they continue onward because I don’t think we could lose a race. This was one of the big reasons that we all won and one of the big reasons that we had a record, a landslide like they haven’t seen before.”

NCAA President Charlie Baker has already committed to ensure that all universities comply with the new order.
