Riley Gaines pledges to pass laws in every state after claiming transgender protesters spat on attendees at ‘Save Women’s Sports’ gathering.
Transgender Activists Clash with Supporters of Girls-Only Spaces and Sports in Texas
During a bill signing ceremony in Texas, transgender activists engaged in disruptive and aggressive behavior, including yelling profanities at children, throwing bottles, and even spitting on people, according to Division 1 swimmer-turned-activist Riley Gaines, who spoke to The Daily Wire.
Texas Republican Governor Greg Abbott invited Gaines, along with her former teammate Paula Scanlan, and others to witness the ceremonial signing of Senate Bill 15, also known as the “Save Women’s Sports Act.” This bill, signed into law in June, aims to protect girls-only spaces and sports and will take effect on September 1.
“As expected, we encountered protesters,” Gaines shared with The Daily Wire. “And unfortunately, these protesters were some of the most vengeful, hateful, and soulless individuals. They directed profanities at children, threw bottles, poured drinks, and even spat on people.”

“There are certain groups of protesters who will go to any lengths to undermine our cause, but they lack truth, science, logic, and common sense to support their arguments,” Gaines explained. “That’s why they resort to name-calling and spitting.”
“However, this doesn’t discourage us. In fact, it almost motivates us further,” she continued. “We know we are doing the right thing. Despite the unfortunate treatment, it encourages me to continue fighting for this cause in all 50 states.”
The event was captured on video, showing young girls being verbally attacked by protesters advocating for transgender policies. Reportedly, hundreds of protesters were present.
“Girls as young as 5 were harassed and subjected to vulgar language, all for supporting equal athletic opportunities,” Independent Women’s Voice captioned the footage.

Michelle Evans, the leader of the Austin chapter of Independent Women’s Network, described the protesters as a “rabid” crowd, as reported by Fox News.
“When I turned around to go back inside the building, someone threw water at me,” Evans recounted. “Another person threatened to harm me at my home. A woman physically blocked my path and pushed against me. Someone even hit my arm. And then, a woman wearing a pink ski mask and sunglasses spat into my open eye.”
Scanlan, who was also present at the event, shared a video of the protesters with the caption, “What about women’s rights? Are women’s rights not human rights?”
Scanlan previously swam on the University of Pennsylvania swim team with Lia Thomas, a biological male athlete who now identifies as a woman. In June, Scanlan shared her experience with Thomas during an interview with Daily Wire host Matt Walsh Show.

Gaines emphasized that the “Save Women’s Sports Act” in Texas protects girls and women at all levels of competition by ensuring they compete based on their biological sex.
“This was a significant moment. It felt like the culmination of our hard work finally paying off,” she added. “I have testified in Texas multiple times and worked with lawmakers from both sides to help them understand the importance of this issue and find effective ways to communicate our message. So, we were incredibly excited.”
