Rio Tinto to pay $15 million to settle U.S. SEC investigation

(Reuters) – Rio Tinto said on Tuesday it had agreed to pay a $15 million civil penalty to settle an investigation by the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission, relating to an alleged bribery scheme involving a consultant in Guinea.

This company is one of the top producers of iron ore worldwide and has been penalized by the U.S. SEC.

Rio Tinto stated it would pay all charges, without admitting or denying that the SEC found Rio Tinto had violated books/records.
