Conservative group urges RNC to withdraw NBC’s 2024 debate invitation.

A Conservative Group Demands RNC to Bar NBC News from Moderating 2024 GOP ⁣Debate

A⁤ conservative⁢ group is making⁤ a bold move by ⁢demanding the Republican⁢ National Committee (RNC) to prohibit⁣ NBC News from moderating the⁣ third 2024 GOP presidential ‌primary debate. ⁣The group accuses the media outlet of “smearing” the⁣ Right and ‌believes it should not be given the opportunity to‍ host ⁢the ⁤event.

Backlash Against RNC’s Decision

The RNC has faced significant backlash from Republicans after Chairwoman Ronna McDaniel’s group approved NBC for the upcoming debate in Miami on November⁤ 8. The debate will be moderated by NBC’s Kristen Welker and Lester Holt, ⁤along with conservative radio host Hugh Hewitt. Restoration of America, an advocacy organization that spends millions of dollars⁣ to support⁢ Republicans in elections, has now joined the chorus of voices urging the RNC to reconsider its ⁤decision.

“It ⁢is amazing this letter‌ is necessary,” said Restoration of America President Doug Truax in a letter to McDaniel. “In case you’ve been in‍ a coma the last few years, we live in a new world‍ where the government, Big Tech, and establishment media are openly colluding to ⁣hide ‌the truth and ⁢help Democrats. The only way Democrats’ bad policies can survive in America is via a steady stream of propaganda.”

Truax further emphasized NBC’s role in spreading misinformation, stating, “NBC is right at the tip of‍ this spear. It has⁤ spread ⁢thousands of false Russian collusion⁤ hoax stories, racial hoaxes, ‌climate‍ hoaxes, and gender and abortion misinformation. It lies 24/7 about nearly everything.”

Concerns Over Moderators’⁢ Bias

One of‌ the moderators, Kristen Welker, notably moderated the second ‌and final debates of the 2020 presidential election between ‍Joe Biden and Donald Trump. The New York Post reported that Welker’s family has a history of donating⁣ to Democrats and even⁤ celebrated ‌Christmas with the Obama family‌ at ‌the ⁤White House in 2012. Lester Holt,⁣ another⁤ moderator for ⁣the upcoming debate, moderated the initial 2016 debate between Trump and Hillary Clinton.

While former President Trump is not expected⁢ to attend the 2024 debate, ‍conservative figures have⁢ taken to social media⁤ to express⁢ their concerns about the chosen moderators.

“Absolute insanity,” remarked Tom Bevan,⁢ co-founder of RealClearPolitics, ‍a right-leaning ‌news ⁣outlet, upon learning about the moderators.

“Simply amazing to me that the GOP hasn’t learned that in a Republican primary, you⁢ should⁢ never, ever let a ⁢single ⁢Democrat moderate your debates,” said‌ Sean Parnell, an ex-GOP senate candidate.

Restoration of America’s Truax urged the RNC to retract its offer ‍to NBC, stating, “You can’t allow liars‍ to frame questions to our candidates. You want to win in ⁣2024, right?”

Controversy Surrounding Fox News

In addition to the NBC debate, Fox News also faced criticism ⁢from conservatives for its second debate featuring moderator Ilia Calderon, an anchor for ‍the Spanish language network Univision. Former‌ Fox News host Megyn Kelly labeled Calderon as⁤ a “leftist” and expressed ⁣disappointment in the network’s decision.

Despite the controversy, a Fox News journalist revealed that they were not surprised by the RNC’s ‌decision to choose a different outlet for ⁣the debate, considering the previous Univision incident.

As of now, both the RNC⁢ and NBC News have not responded to requests⁣ for comment.

Truax emphasized in the letter that the‍ RNC should “encourage and enable those media⁣ outlets that are speaking the truth, ⁣and to not reward purveyors of false establishment narratives.”

What arguments do Republicans, who disagree⁣ with the conservative group’s demand, make for allowing⁢ NBC News to moderate the⁣ debate despite concerns about bias and favoritism

N between former President Donald Trump and President ‍Joe Biden. During the debates, Welker ‌faced criticism from⁤ Republicans who accused her⁤ of ⁢bias and unfairness in her questioning. Furthermore, conservatives argue that NBC News has a long history of leaning left, which raises concerns about the objectivity ‌and fairness of the upcoming debate.

The ‌conservative group argues ⁢that the‌ RNC should not allow NBC News to moderate the debate because it believes that the network will not ask tough questions to ⁤Democratic candidates, ‍thus providing them with an advantage. They claim that NBC’s history of biased reporting and spreading misinformation makes it unfit ⁢to moderate such an important event in the presidential primary process.

The demand from the conservative group ‍comes as part of a broader movement within the Republican Party to hold the media accountable for what conservatives ‌perceive as biased⁣ coverage. Republicans have long accused mainstream media outlets of having ⁢a liberal ‍bias and favoring Democratic politicians. This demand to bar NBC News ‌from‍ moderating the debate represents an extension ‍of those concerns and a ⁢push for fair and unbiased journalism.

However,‌ not all Republicans agree with the conservative group’s demand. Some argue that excluding NBC News from moderating⁤ the debate would be⁣ an infringement on freedom of the ⁣press and would undermine the principles of a fair and open democratic process.⁣ They believe that all media outlets, regardless of their perceived biases, should have the⁢ opportunity to moderate debates to ensure ⁣a diversity of perspectives and a robust discussion‌ of the issues.

The RNC has‍ yet ‌to respond⁢ to‍ the demand from ⁢the conservative group. It remains to be seen whether the organization will reconsider its decision and choose a different media outlet to co-moderate the⁣ debate. The controversy ‍surrounding NBC ⁤News’ involvement in the debate highlights‍ the ongoing tension between conservatives and⁢ the mainstream media and raises important questions about the ⁢role of ‌the media in shaping public opinion and influencing political processes.

As ‌the 2024 presidential ⁢election approaches, it is crucial for both Republicans⁢ and Democrats to engage in a respectful and productive dialogue about the role⁢ of ⁤the media‌ in the electoral process. Balancing the need for a free and independent press with concerns about bias and fairness is a challenge‌ that all political parties must grapple with to ensure ‌the integrity and transparency ‍of our democratic system.
