Robert F. Kennedy Jr. Files To Run For President In 2024
Robert F. Kennedy Jr., a well-known environmental lawyer and author, filed to run for the presidency in 2024 on Wednesday. Kennedy, the nephew of President John F. Kennedy, has confirmed that he is running as a Democrat. He teased a 2024 campaign on Twitter last month, asking people to visit his website and support his cause. Kennedy has vowed to end corruption if he is elected as president.
Although Kennedy is known for his work as an environmental lawyer, in recent years, he has garnered attention for his views on vaccines. He founded a nonprofit organization called Children’s Health Defense with a vision to eliminate childhood chronic health conditions caused by environmental exposures. During the pandemic, Kennedy expressed his concerns about COVID vaccines and accused Dr. Anthony Fauci, the nation’s leading infectious disease expert, of orchestrating fascism, which resulted in social media bans and backlash. However, Kennedy is determined to run for President and make a difference.
President Joe Biden has expressed his intention to seek another term, but he has not yet made a formal announcement. Kennedy joins self-help author Marianne Williamson as a Democratic nominee. Former President Donald Trump is seeking another term as a Republican nominee, and many other Republican candidates, including Nikki Haley, Vivek Ramaswamy, and Asa Hutchinson, have already entered the race. Possible candidates who may join the contest include former Vice President Mike Pence and Florida Governor Ron DeSantis.
Kennedy’s family members, Kathleen Kennedy Townsend, Joseph P. Kennedy, and Maeve Kennedy McKean, have published an op-ed in Politico in 2019 in which they urged the public to disregard his comments on vaccines, stating that Kennedy is part of a misinformation campaign that is having heartbreaking and deadly consequences. Cheryl Hines, Kennedy’s wife, called Kennedy’s comments reprehensible and insensitive.
