Ron and Casey DeSantis face criticism over their ‘strong marriage’: Kaylee McGhee White denounces it as ‘sexist politics’.
The Washington Examiner: Political Sexism in Attacks on Gov. Ron DeSantis and His Wife
The latest attacks on 2024 Republican presidential candidate Gov. Ron DeSantis (R-FL) and his wife Casey have been labeled as “political sexism” by The Washington Examiner’s Kaylee McGhee White.
During her appearance on Fox & Friends, McGhee White criticized The Washington Post’s portrayal of the couple as “insular,” “an inner circle of two,” and “guarded,” arguing that these descriptions simply reflect a “perfectly normal and healthy marriage.”
“Those are the things that a marriage should be,” McGhee White stated. “Who else needs to be involved in the inner workings of their marriage? But what this really is, I think, it’s an example of political sexism. And I say it’s political because you only ever see these sorts of attacks on Republican or conservative women.”
McGhee White pointed out that Casey DeSantis has faced multiple similar attacks, highlighting the double standard in how such situations are treated. She mentioned that while Casey’s involvement in her husband’s campaign may be significant, it was never criticized when discussed in the context of Democratic figures like Hillary Clinton.
“Casey DeSantis has been subjected to multiple attacks of this kind,” McGhee White added. “Maybe she does have an outsize role in his campaign. But again, this was never derided as a bad thing when it’s talked about in the Democratic sense. Hillary Clinton was praised for having a prominent role in her husband’s presidency to the point where the media even encouraged her to run for president herself.”
McGhee White expressed her support for Casey DeSantis to engage in more interviews and allow the public to get to know her better.

“She is such an asset for Ron DeSantis, who has been sometimes criticized for not being very charismatic or personable,” McGhee White emphasized. “Casey DeSantis is all of those things. She’s warm, she’s beautiful, she’s inviting. She really is a great asset for him and a great partner to him.”
The Florida governor announced his candidacy in March. Currently, in polling among likely Republican voters, DeSantis trails former President Donald Trump with 20.9% compared to Trump’s 53.5%.
