Russia sends heavily armed forces to Moscow streets following Wagner boss’ declaration of war.
Russia Deploys Military Units Amidst Escalating Tensions
Russia witnessed a dramatic turn of events on Friday night as heavily armed military units were deployed within its own borders. The cause? Yevgeny Prigozhin, the owner of Russia’s notorious Wagner paramilitary group, made a bold declaration to destroy Russian Defense Minister Sergei Shoigu, accusing him of killing Wagner troops.
Social media platforms were flooded with videos showcasing the deployment of armored vehicles and helicopters in Moscow and the southern city of Rostov-on-Don. The New York Times reported that Rostov-on-Don is located near the front line in Ukraine, where Prigozhin’s fighters were operating.
The situation quickly escalated, with Russia accusing Prigozhin of organizing an armed rebellion. In response, authorities took drastic measures, shutting down websites like Google News to prevent the spread of information to the public.

In a video statement, Prigozhin accused Shoigu of deceiving Russian President Vladimir Putin about the situation in Ukraine, manipulating him into invading the country.
“The war was needed so that a handful of scumbags could have a blast and get PR attention showing how strong the army is,” he said. “The war was needed not in order to return the Russian citizens to our bosom and not in order to ‘demilitarize and denazify Ukraine’.”
Prigozhin shared a message on his personal Telegram channel, alleging that Russia had launched an attack on his soldiers.
“A missile attack was carried out on a PMC Wagner base,” the message stated. “There are many casualties. According to the information provided by the fighters who witnessed the attack, it was carried out by soldiers of the Russian Ministry of Defense from a rear direction.”
With a force of 25,000 men, Prigozhin vowed to uncover the truth behind the chaos in the country.
“The military leadership of the country has brought forth evil that must be stopped. They have forgotten the word justice, and we will restore it,” he declared in an audio recording. “Anyone who attempts resistance will be considered a threat and immediately destroyed. This includes all checkpoints on our path and any aircraft above our heads.”
