Kremlin claims Russia effectively stops Ukrainian drone attacks in Moscow and Crimea.
Russian Authorities Successfully Prevent Ukrainian Drone Attacks
The Russian authorities have announced that they successfully thwarted Ukrainian drone attacks against Moscow and occupied Crimea on Monday. Using electronic warfare, the Russian foreign ministry was able to intercept and stop two drones that were intended to strike the capital. Fortunately, there were no injuries, but two non-residential buildings suffered damage.
Russia has accused Ukraine of orchestrating the attack, with a defense intelligence official from Ukraine’s Ministry of Defense confirming their involvement. Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov assured the public that all the drones had been neutralized, and measures were being taken to enhance the defense system.
Ukraine’s “Terrorist Methods” and Russia’s Retaliatory Measures
The Russian Ministry of Defense, which has been targeting Ukrainian civilian infrastructure for over a year, condemned Ukraine’s “terrorist methods” and accused them of intimidating the civilian population. They emphasized that these attacks had no military significance and called on international organizations to condemn the actions of the Kyiv regime.
Furthermore, the foreign ministry stated that Russia reserves the right to take tough retaliatory measures in response to these provocations.
Attack in Russian-Occupied Crimea
Russia also claimed that 17 drones were involved in an attack in Russian-occupied Crimea. However, electronic warfare successfully suppressed 14 of them. While there were no casualties, an ammunition depot in the Dzhankoy district was hit, and a private house in the Kirovsky district was damaged by UAV shrapnel.
As a precautionary measure, traffic on the railroad and highways in parts of Crimea has been suspended for safety reasons.
Russia’s Aggression Continues
In the latest developments of the war, Russia has intensified its attacks on Ukraine’s port cities, including Odessa. This escalation comes after Russia withdrew from a grain agreement that allowed Ukrainian exports to leave the country. Odessa has been heavily targeted, resulting in the destruction of hundreds of tons of food intended for global humanitarian aid.
Russian leaders now consider vessels in the Black Sea to be aiding Ukraine, further escalating tensions.
Ukrainian Landmarks Destroyed
Russian missiles damaged numerous Ukrainian architectural landmarks, including a historic Orthodox cathedral in Odessa. Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky expressed his dismay on social media, highlighting the deliberate targeting of the city center, which is under UNESCO protection. The head of Odessa’s regional military administration, Oleh Kiper, condemned the destruction caused by the “cynical inhumans” from the Kremlin.
Zelensky emphasized that no terrorist has ever succeeded in overcoming the world, and the Kremlin’s actions will not succeed either.
