Ruth Marcus’ criticism of Alito is hypocritical given her support for Totenberg’s work.

Washington Post Editor Criticizes Justice Alito

Washington Post Editor ‍Ruth Marcus recently criticized Justice Samuel Alito for defending himself against attacks on the ⁤Supreme Court. In her article, ⁢Marcus ⁤questioned the appropriateness ‌of Alito’s⁣ interviews and⁣ opinion articles, calling them “part therapy couch,⁤ part bullhorn.”

“It’s hard to hold ⁢yourself out as a⁢ neutral umpire when you only ‌play ‌on welcoming fields.”

However, Marcus’s criticism seems hypocritical when compared to the actions of liberal Justice Ruth Bader Ginsburg. Ginsburg frequently gave interviews ‍to‌ her close friend, Nina Totenberg, who happens to be NPR’s ⁣Supreme Court correspondent. Totenberg even ⁢provided Ginsburg ⁣with interview questions in advance.

Totenberg’s interviews‍ with Ginsburg, which were often seen as conversations geared towards ‍her fans, better fit the description of “part⁣ therapy couch, part bullhorn.” Yet, Marcus ⁤seems unbothered by Ginsburg’s actions and even⁤ provided a glowing blurb for Totenberg’s book.

Ethical Questions

While it is ‍acceptable for public officials to‌ have working relationships with reporters, Totenberg’s close friendship with Ginsburg raises ethical concerns. Totenberg’s husband served as a medical ⁢adviser to Ginsburg and even⁣ supervised a biopsy that revealed cancerous tumors.

Totenberg’s book ⁣also reveals other‌ instances of their‍ close friendship, such as ‌Ginsburg⁣ planning Totenberg’s wedding and regularly inviting ⁢her to events. ‌It becomes apparent that‌ Totenberg had insider⁣ knowledge about Ginsburg’s health and⁣ even had access to confidential exchanges among the justices.

Yet, Marcus remains silent on these revelations ⁤and instead focuses‍ her criticism on ⁢Alito’s defense of himself. This selective outrage ⁣exposes⁤ the bias and rot in American journalism.

Marcus’s agenda seems to be undermining ‌the American people’s trust in‍ the Supreme Court now that it is no marcus-alito-attack-is-grossly-hypocritical-considering-her-endorsement-of-nina-totenbergs-work/” title=”Ruth Marcus’ criticism of Alito is hypocritical given her support for Totenberg’s work.”>longer⁤ implementing left-wing policies. ⁤We must call out this dangerous ‌propaganda.
