Retail ‍Crime and Shoplifting ⁢in San ⁣Francisco: ⁣Stores⁢ Take⁢ Extreme Measures to Protect Frozen ‍Food

Retail crime and⁢ shoplifting ‍in San Francisco have reached alarming levels, prompting‌ stores to implement drastic security measures.⁣ In a recent tweet,⁣ images‍ of a Walgreens location⁤ revealed that ‌frozen food ‍products‍ are‌ now⁢ locked‌ in chained⁢ coolers,‍ requiring‍ staff ‌assistance for ⁤access.

“Workers said normally⁣ shoplifters clean⁤ out⁤ all the pizza ‍and ice cream ‌every⁢ night. ⁤They’re usually hit 20x‌ a⁢ day,” the tweet⁤ read. ⁣”The ⁢whole ‌store is⁤ virtually⁤ locked up.”

The ⁢accompanying video ⁢showcased the entire frozen food section padlocked, while other items like cosmetics and‌ snacks were visible ‍behind plastic‌ barriers. This situation was not unique ⁢to Walgreens, as a similar ⁢scenario‍ was captured ⁤in a tweet⁤ featuring a⁢ San Francisco ⁣CVS.

Shoppers and employees ‌have expressed ⁢frustration ‍with these heightened security measures. One Safeway‌ employee even stated⁣ their intention ‍to quit due to the constant stress of unlocking⁢ and transporting products.

Despite the inconvenience,⁣ stores ⁤are determined to⁢ protect ⁣their merchandise and combat the rising tide⁣ of retail⁣ crime in‌ San Francisco.
