Sean Curran reflects on ‘incredible’ relationship with Trump in Secret Service

Sean Curran, the Director of the Secret Service, reflects on his intense and unique relationship with former President Donald Trump, asserting that he has spent more time with Trump than anyone else in his life. In an interview, Curran discussed the astonishing experiences they shared, particularly in light of the challenges arising from two assassination attempts against Trump around the time of the 2020 presidential election. He noted that the first attempt led to notable security changes, including his appointment as Secret Service Director after the previous leader resigned.

Curran recounted a specific incident in July where a bullet struck Trump during a campaign event in Butler,Pennsylvania, which was the first assassination attempt on a sitting president since Ronald Reagan in 1981. He emphasized the strong bond they formed during these turbulent times, stating, “We built a very strong relationship… we were there with and for one another.”

Moreover, after a second incident where another individual attempted to approach Trump while armed, the individual was apprehended and faced multiple charges, including attempted murder. Curran expressed his gratitude for the role he played during these critical moments and acknowledged the evolving challenges his agency faces in protecting public figures in today’s changing landscape.

Sean Curran reflects on ‘incredible’ relationship with Trump as Secret Service Director

Secret Service Director Sean Curran claimed he’s spent more time with President Donald Trump “more than anybody else in my life.”

Trump was the target of two assassination attempts just months ahead of the November election. The head of the Secret Service at the time resigned following the first attempt, and Trump named Curran to run the service upon his inauguration. Curran was among the Secret Service officers with Trump in Butler, Pennsylvania, in July when a bullet struck Trump in the ear.

“We built a very strong relationship. We’ve been through a lot, obviously. From start to finish, it was quite incredible. Stuff that I think the both of us never thought we would see or experience in our entire lives, but we were there with and for one another,” Curran said on Fox News’s My View with Lara Trump on Saturday. “He’s just an incredible person, and I got to see sides of him that most don’t get to see. If those were billable hours, I’d probably be a rich man. We spent a lot of time together, more than anybody else in my life.”

“My entire family is grateful for you in this role,” Lara Trump told the Secret Service Director.

The attack in Butler, Pennsylvania, was the first against a president since Ronald Reagan in 1981. At the time, Trump was days away from becoming the Republican nominee for president and had been on the campaign trail for about 18 months. A shooter killed one and injured three, including Trump. Corey Comperatore, 50, a volunteer fire chief, husband, and father, was the single fatality.

Secret Service apprehended another suspect, weeks later, Ryan Routh, who was armed on a golf course where Trump was playing. Routh has since pleaded not guilty to one count of attempting to assassinate a major presidential candidate and four firearm offenses. In December, federal prosecutors added another attempted murder charge connected to when Routh fled law enforcement, causing traffic to shut down and an accident that nearly killed a young female passenger.

TRUMP AND CURRAN MAKE 13-YEAR-OLD CANCER SURVIVOR AN HONORARY SECRET SERVICE AGENT: ‘BEAUTIFUL MOMENT’

Florida Attorney General James Uthmeier announced earlier this month that his office is criminally charging Routh for attempted first-degree murder and terrorism.

According to Curran, “the enemy is changing” and prompting constant pivots from his agency.
