Police in Tukwila, Washington, have released additional details about a viral video showing a naked man in a JCPenney store. According to parents at the scene, the man allegedly attempted to inappropriately touch their children.
The disturbing video, shared by police near a Seattle suburb, shows parents attacking the man in the JCPenney store after he allegedly made inappropriate advances towards their children.
The incident occurred on October 1st, as reported by Daily Mail.
“The individual depicted in the video was in a mental crisis. Shortly after the video shared online ends, the individual had a serious medical emergency which necessitated the need for medics and transportation to the hospital,” stated the Tukwila Police Department on Facebook.
The video was originally shared on X, formerly known as Twitter, by a Seattle-area account from the JCPenney location in Tukwila, which is approximately 10 miles south of the city.
The video footage shows a man following the naked man, who was only wearing socks.
The person recording the video can be heard saying that they were in the kids’ department of the store.
Shortly after, another person is seen in the video chasing after the undressed man. The person recording quickly follows suit. Then, the unclothed man grabs a pair of pants and tries to put them on hastily.
A group of parents gathers around the naked man in a corner of the store, leading to a chaotic altercation with shouting in the background. The parents attempt to restrain the man as he tries to escape.
Eventually, bystanders at the scene start attacking and punching the unclothed man until someone repeatedly yells “enough.”
The man is arrested and taken to the hospital shortly after the incident. His identity remains unknown.
According to the video, it is suggested that the naked man was attempting to touch two children he had with him in the JCPenney store, but the police claim they have found no evidence of that.
As a result, the unidentified man is detained and charged with misdemeanor assault.
