Senator Sinema criticizes Biden for border crisis, says he had ample time to prepare.
Sen. Kyrsten Sinema Slams President Biden for Failing to Secure U.S.-Mexico Border
During an interview with Margaret Brennan on CBS News’ “Face The Nation,” Sen. Kyrsten Sinema (I-AZ) criticized President Joe Biden for his repeated failure to secure the U.S.-Mexico border. As the crisis is expected to intensify this week with the end of Title 42, Sinema expressed her concerns about the lack of information provided by the Biden administration to border officials.
New Legislation to Address the Issue
Sinema also discussed new legislation that she has introduced to act as a “band-aid” to address the ongoing crisis at the border. However, she emphasized that the Biden administration needs to take more action to secure the border and provide necessary information to border officials.
The Reality of the Situation
Despite the Biden administration’s recent actions, including deploying a small number of troops to the border and creating a phone app for migrants, Sinema stated that these measures are not enough to address the crisis. With a border of over 2,000 miles, 1,500 troops are not sufficient to get the job done.
Disconnected from Real Lives and Experiences
Sinema expressed her frustration with the system in Washington, D.C., which she believes is deeply disconnected from the real lives and experiences of border communities and migrants seeking to come to the country. She urged those living in Washington, D.C., to learn what living in a state impacted by the border crisis is like.
No Information Provided to Border Officials
During the interview, Sinema revealed that border officials in Arizona have not received any information from the Department of Homeland Security or the federal government about what to expect with the end of Title 42. She expressed her concerns that the administration either has the information and is choosing not to share it or does not have it, making it difficult to prepare for the inflow of migrants.
Take Action Now
As the crisis at the border continues to escalate, it is crucial for the Biden administration to take immediate action to secure the U.S.-Mexico border and provide necessary information to border officials. Failure to do so will only exacerbate the crisis and put more lives at risk.
- Deploy more troops to the border
- Provide necessary information to border officials
- Take action to address the root causes of migration
It is time for the Biden administration to step up and take responsibility for securing the U.S.-Mexico border.
