Serbia school shooting: Eight students dead after shooter opens fire in class


Eight students are reportedly dead after a teenage student broke into class and started shooting at his peers in central Belgrade, Serbia, authorities said Wednesday.

A security guard was also killed, and six other students and a teacher have been hospitalized, per CNN.

Local outlet B92.net reported the 14-year-old male shooter broke into a history class and started shooting at students.

The seventh grade suspect was reportedly arrested. Police said he fired several shots from his father’s gun at other students and the school guard.

Authorities said they received a call about the shooting at about 8:40 a.m. local time. Their investigation has only just begun.

Mass shootings in Serbia are extremely rare.
