Seventy churches within Georgia split from the Usa Methodist Church (UMC) a week ago largely over LGBTQ problems, marking the latest in an expanding divide within the particular third-largest Protestant denomination in the United States.
The North Atlanta Conference voted last Thursday night to allow the churches, the majority of which were in rural locations, to disaffiliate from the UMC.
