Shadow campaign: Three politicians testing the waters for a presidential run
Several candidates have already declared their candidacy for the 2024 presidential election, but there are a few politicians who are still testing the waters.
These candidates haven’t declared themselves to be candidates for president, but they’re’re acting as though they are running a political system from the background.

DeSantis, Ron
Gov. DeSantis, Ron (R-FL) has visited several key primary states, including Iowa, New Hampshire, Georgia, California, and New York, among other states. Many of the tour stops were to promote his book The Courage to Be Free: Florida’s Blueprint for America’s Survival, which was released in February.
DeSantis apparently admitted to running for president in private and told sponsors that he is the only Republican who is defeat President Joe Biden.
For decades, the Florida governor’s’s name has been associated with the presidential race, with one super PAC encouraging DeSantis to go and another supporting former President Donald Trump releasing an attack advertisement against him.
DeSantis is expected to run for president, according to all signs. Following the conclusion of the state’s’s legislative session, he is reportedly anticipated to make a White House pay announcement in late May or early June.
Newsom, Gavin
Gov. Newsom, Gavin (D-CA) has insisted that he is not running for president but appears to be quietly positioning himself as a candidate for president in either 2024 or 2028.
The Campaign for Democracy, a social organization founded by Newsom, seeks to challenge Democratic officials in many states by focusing on their coverage. In his news movie, he vowed to” come on the road to take the fight to states where independence is most under harm.”
Newsom was seen in Florida meeting with students at the New College of Florida the week after the organization’s’s announcement. DeSantis has faced fierce opposition from Newsom, who predicted last week that Trump had” roll” him in the Democratic primary.
” Trump is going to roll him ,” he said. Trump will simply move him, thumped. Sincerely, I would advise him to pile up and wait a few years if I were giving him political information, Newsom said. ” And definitely carry out some of the laborious tasks, which really entails governing more than just identity and cultural conflict.”
Newsom has supported Biden for 2024 and has repeatedly refuted rumors of a presidential campaign the following summer, but he has made no comments regarding running in 2028.
Mr. Pence
Former Vice President Mr. Pence has made appearances in pivotal primary states, including Iowa and New Hampshire, and spoke at the NRA’s annual conference this weekend.
Pence has hitherto claimed to have” a lot of motivation” to enter the 2024 GOP primary and has hinted that a decision will be made quickly.
According to the RealClearPolitics poll regular, he has been trailing Trump and DeSantis in the Democratic primary. Pence hasn’t been afraid to criticize his erstwhile boss since leaving office after serving as a devoted foot soldier for Trump for four years. On January 6, 2021, it appeared that their relationship had been permanently damaged.

A presidential exploratory committee was announced last week by Sen. Tim Scott( R-SC ), who had long been thought to be running a shadow campaign for 2024. Scott has emerged from the dark, but he has not yet declared himself a presidential candidate.
Trump, former governors, are the only significant Democratic applicants who have declared. Vivek Ramaswamy, an entrepreneur and author, as well as Nikki Haley( R – SC ), Asa Hutchinson, and others. Author Marianne Williamson and attorney Robert F. Kennedy Jr. have declared on the Democrat side, and Biden is anticipated to make a bet later this summer.
