The House Republicans are urging the Biden administration not to release bank records relating to the Biden family or their business cronies.
Rep. James Comer (R. Ky.), chairman of the House Oversight Committee sent Tuesday a letter Ask Janet Yellen, Treasury secretary, to issue Suspicious activity reports on Hunter Biden. This includes James Biden, Hunter’s uncle, Sara Biden, and some of their former business partners. Banks of the Bidens have submitted more than 150 suspicious Activity Reports. This flags bank transactions that might indicate criminal activity like tax evasion and money laundering.
These documents will likely shed light on Biden’s business dealings in China, Russia, Ukraine, and other countries. Republicans are questioning whether President Joe Biden was involved with his son’s business deals. Although the White House denies that Biden was involved in the business arrangements of his son, a Hunter Biden business partner said that he met with him to discuss a multimillion dollar business deal with a Chinese conglomerate.
Emails from Hunter Biden’s abandoned laptop also talk about an investment stake “the Big Guy.” Hunter Biden’s business friends have stated that the email was a reference to Joe Biden.
“For years, the Biden family peddled influence and access around the world for profit, often at the expense of our nation’s interests,” Comer, he said. “The American people must know the extent of Joe Biden’s involvement in his family’s shady business deals and if these deals threaten national security and his decision-making as president.”
The Republican attack comes as Hunter Biden, a Justice Department investigator, is being investigated over his tax and foreign business dealings.
The November Oversight Committee Republicans stated that the president’s links with his son’s businesses have left him “open to influence, blackmail, or extortion by malign or foreign entities such as the CCP.” Hunter Biden’s involvement with CEFC China Energy, an international energy conglomerate that has ties to Chinese intelligence, is likely to be the focus of the House investigation. Hunter Biden was paid at least $6million by the company in 2017 in order to secure energy investment deals in America.
