The Man Responsible for Massacre in Lewiston, Maine Found Dead
The lifeless body of the man believed to be responsible for the devastating massacre that claimed the lives of 18 innocent people in Lewiston, Maine, has been discovered, confirmed by Maine Governor Janet Mills.
Robert Card, the prime suspect in the mass shooting, carried out the horrifying act that left 18 dead and 13 injured at Schemengees Bar and Grille and the Just-In-Time Recreation bowling alley, both located just four miles apart.

Maine Department of Public Safety Commissioner Michael Sauschuck revealed that the body was found near the river in Lisbon Falls, approximately 10 miles from Lewiston. The area is still considered an active crime scene.
“I’m relieved that Card is no longer a threat to anyone,” expressed Governor Mills during the press conference, emphasizing the need for healing in the community.
Governor Mills also informed President Joe Biden about Card’s death and expressed gratitude towards law enforcement officials for their tireless efforts.
Authorities discovered a suicide note at a residence connected to Card, addressed to his son, but it did not provide a specific motive for the shooting.
Card, a 40-year-old U.S. Army reservist and firearm instructor, held the rank of sergeant at a nearby U.S. Army Reserve base. He had previously been temporarily committed to a mental health facility during the summer, according to law enforcement officials.
For days, the community lived in fear as shelter-in-place restrictions were imposed following the shooting. However, Commissioner Sauschuck announced that the restrictions would be lifted by Saturday.
Furthermore, hunting was initially prohibited in the affected areas on Saturday, but this restriction is now expected to be rescinded.
During the press conference, Commissioner Sauschuck called for a moment of silence to honor the 16 men and two women who tragically lost their lives. Their ages ranged from 14 to 76.
Various federal agencies collaborated with state and local law enforcement to locate Card. Federal agents conducted thorough searches, collected electronic devices, examined financial records, social media accounts, writings, and mental health history.
On Friday, a search of the Androscoggin River was conducted using divers, robots, and sonar, as investigators focused on the river as Card’s last known location. His abandoned white SUV was found at a boat launch, intensifying interest in the river.
Commissioner Sauschuck revealed that law enforcement had not seen Card in the past two days but had received over 530 tips from the public, ranging from alleged sightings to concerns and suggestions.
Governor Janet Mills visited Central Maine Medical Center on Friday to express her gratitude to the doctors, nurses, and healthcare workers who have been tirelessly assisting the victims. She commended their heroic efforts and the compassion they have shown during this tragic event.
