Sicilian Mafia Boss Matteo Messina Denaro Arrested

Messina denaro was captured at the hospital where he was being treated.
Italian state television reported that Messina denaro was taken to a hidden location by police right after being arrested.
He was a young man when he fled to hiding. Now he is 60. Messina denaro, who was a top boss in Sicily’s Cosa Nostra, had a power base at Trapani, in western Sicily.
He was the last of the three Mafia top-ranking leaders who were long fugitive and had been evading capture for decades.
Messina D’Antaro, who was tried in absentia but convicted of numerous murders faces multiple life sentences.
He will be sentenced to prison for the 1992 bombings of Sicily that killed two top anti-Mafia prosecutors Giovanni Falcone and Paolo Borsellino. He was also convicted for the murder of a Mafia turnedcoat’s young son. His body was then strangled and dissolved in a vat full of acid.
Monday’s arrest came thirty years and one day after the capture of convicted “boss of bosses” Salvatore “Toto” After 23 years on the streets, Riina finally found refuge in Palermo.
