Millions of Social Security Recipients to Receive Payments
Exciting news for Social Security beneficiaries! In just two days, those born from the 1st through the 10th of their birth month will receive their monthly retirement checks, worth up to $4,555 per payment. But don’t worry if your birthday falls later in the month, your payment is on its way!
How Much Will You Receive?
Did you know that Social Security payments are based on your lifetime earnings and have no limits based on income or resources? However, the amount you receive does vary based on the age you retire. If you retired at 67, you’ll receive a maximum check of $3,627. Retired at 62? You’ll get up to $2,572. And if you delayed your retirement until age 70, you’ll receive the largest payment of $4,555 per month, according to the Social Security Administration.
When Will You Get Paid?
Payments are made in three waves, with all occurring on Wednesdays. The first wave is for those born from the 1st through the 10th of their birth month. The second wave is for those born from the 11th through the 20th, and the third wave is for those born from the 21st through the 31st. So, mark your calendars!
- Wave 1: May 10
- Wave 2: May 17
- Wave 3: May 24
What About Other Social Security Payments?
It’s important to note that regular Social Security checks differ from other payments distributed by the agency, such as disability insurance or Supplemental Security Income. SSI payments are set to be paid out to eligible recipients on June 1.
What’s the Future of Social Security?
While it’s great news that you’ll be receiving your monthly retirement check soon, it’s important to keep in mind that Social Security insolvency may occur as early as 2034 unless action is taken by Congress to prevent it. Stay informed and stay engaged!
