Social Security update: $914 payment coming in 10 days.

Supplemental Security Income Recipients to Receive⁤ Up to $914 in ⁤10⁤ Days

Exciting news for individuals receiving Supplemental ‌Security Income (SSI)! In just 10 days, you ⁣will see your next monthly benefits payment, which could⁣ be as much as $914.

This upcoming payment on September 1st is ⁣the first of two payments⁤ you will receive this month. This unique occurrence happens multiple times a year, ‌and it’s all due to a scheduling quirk.

Why the‍ Double Payment?

Normally, SSI⁣ payments are delivered to⁤ beneficiaries on the first day ‍of the month. However, when the ‍first day falls on a weekend or a holiday, the Social⁢ Security Administration ensures that recipients receive their checks on time by issuing the payment on the business day prior.

As ⁤a result, you will⁢ receive two checks in the ⁤same calendar month several times a year. But don’t worry, you will still receive a total ‌of 12 checks per year,‌ one for each month.

This‍ year, you can expect two payments in March, June,‍ September, ‌and December. This is because⁣ the first of the ⁤month ‍falls on a weekend in April, July, October, and January‍ 2024.

So, mark your calendars! The September payment will be issued to you on September 1st. As for the October payment, ⁢it‌ will be sent out a bit⁤ earlier on September 29th since October 1st falls on a Sunday.

Now,‌ let’s talk⁤ about the payment amounts. The rate for individuals is $914 per month, while eligible couples can expect a monthly payment of $1,371. ⁤If you are an essential ⁢person, meaning you ⁤live with⁢ someone⁣ receiving‌ SSI and provide ‌them with necessary care,⁢ your monthly payment rate is $458.

It’s worth noting that SSI payments have ‌been around since January 1974, with payment rates increasing to account for cost of living adjustments since ⁣1975.
