Someone Won the $1.35 Billion Mega Millions Jackpot on Friday
A lucky ticket holder matched all six numbers Friday — snapping up an estimated $1.35 billion Mega Millions prize.
The numbers drawn on Friday night included 30, 43 and 46.
Mega Millions’ homepage states that there was a Maine winner of the Mega Millions jackpot. He overcame difficult odds and won the prize. There were three months of drawing without a winner.
Site also states that the next grand prize will go for $20 million and that the cash option will go for $10.7 million. This means that the prize of $1.35 Billion was won.
Mega Millions officials have not yet released a statement on the winner of the jackpot.
The $1.35 billion grand prize is for a winner who takes an annuity with annual payments over 29 years. Winners almost always choose the cash option, which for Friday night’s drawing was an estimated $724.6 million.
After 25 consecutive drawings, there was no jackpot winner. However, the string of losing draws ended with someone winning the top prize at 1 in 302.6 millions.
This jackpot is the fourth largest in US history.
Mega Millions is available in 45 states, Washington, D.C., the U.S. Virgin Islands, and other places.
