Soros-funded group protests in Senate, calls for Israeli ceasefire
US Campaign for Palestinian Rights Takes Over Senate Atrium in Bold Protest
An anti-Israel group, funded by liberal billionaire George Soros, made a powerful statement on Monday by flooding the lobby of a Senate office building. The U.S. Campaign for Palestinian Rights (USCPR) proudly claimed responsibility for the protest, boasting on social media that over 100 of its activists had taken over the Senate atrium, demanding a ceasefire in Israel and an end to U.S. aid to the Jewish state. The protesters even spilled red-stained money on the floors to symbolize the aid given to Israel. Capitol Police arrested more than 40 protesters, with two facing charges of resisting arrest.

This illegal protest by USCPR is just one example of Soros-backed groups rallying against Israel at the Capitol. Jewish Voice for Peace and IfNotNow also infiltrated the Capitol in October, accusing the Israeli government of ”genocide.” These groups have received significant funding from Soros’s philanthropy arm, the Open Society Foundations. USCPR’s parent organization, Education for Just Peace in the Middle East, has received $700,000 from Open Society since 2018 to promote freedom, justice, and equality.
In addition to Soros’s support, USCPR’s parent organization has received $580,000 from the Rockefeller Brothers Fund, a left-wing nonprofit dedicated to social change. However, this organization has faced accusations of using its charity status to fund Hamas and other Palestinian groups. It serves as the fiscal sponsor of the Palestinian BDS National Committee, which includes U.S. designated terrorist organizations like Hamas and Palestinian Islamic Jihad.
USCPR has also established ties with House Democrats, co-sponsoring events with Rep. Rashida Tlaib that mourned Israel’s founding. While House Speaker Kevin McCarthy blocked one of these events, Senate Democrats provided space for it in a committee room.
USCPR’s protest was not the only one targeting a government building on Monday. A group of “Jewish elders” chained themselves to the White House gates, demanding an end to the genocide and a ceasefire. USCPR, Jewish Voice for Peace, and other anti-Israel groups pledged to stage disruptive actions on Capitol Hill in a joint statement.
These actions were in response to a call for a global strike by the Palestinian National and Islamic Forces, which includes representatives from Hamas and Palestinian Islamic Jihad. USCPR supported the strike, emphasizing that it was called for by Palestinian journalists, not terrorists.
What organization is leading the protest in the Senate atrium for Palestinian rights?

This audacious demonstration marks the latest escalation in the ongoing tensions between Israel and Palestine. The USCPR, a leading organization advocating for Palestinian rights, has been vocal in its opposition to Israel’s policies and has called for international intervention to resolve the Israeli-Palestinian conflict. The group’s tactics and messaging have sparked contentious debates and received both support and criticism.
The protest, carefully planned and executed, grabbed the attention of senators, staff, and the media. Speeches, chants, and creative visuals were used by the protesters to convey their message. The red-stained money was a powerful and disturbing symbolization of the U.S. financial support given to Israel. By occupying the Senate atrium, the USCPR aimed to bring the Palestinian issue to the forefront of American politics and make it impossible for politicians to ignore.
While the USCPR’s actions are protected under the First Amendment’s right to free speech and assembly, the protest did raise concerns about the disruption of normal operations in a government building. Capitol Police acted swiftly and arrested those who crossed the line of peaceful demonstration by resisting arrest or engaging in unlawful activities. The two individuals facing charges will have to face legal consequences for their actions.
Supporters of the USCPR argue that direct actions like this protest are necessary to draw attention to the injustices faced by the Palestinian people. They claim that without such bold and disruptive tactics, the voices of the Palestinians would continue to be marginalized and their plight ignored. Critics, on the other hand, highlight the potential negative impacts of such protests on the overall political climate and bipartisan support for Palestinian rights.
The Israeli-Palestinian conflict is a deeply complex issue with deep historical, political, and humanitarian dimensions. Tensions have escalated in recent months with the eviction of Palestinian families in East Jerusalem, the subsequent violence in Gaza, and the ongoing settlement expansions in the West Bank. The USCPR, alongside other pro-Palestinian organizations, seeks to raise awareness about these injustices and catalyze change through advocacy and nonviolent resistance.
The protest in the Senate atrium serves as a stark reminder that the Israeli-Palestinian conflict continues to generate passionate and polarizing responses. As the campaigns for Palestinian rights gain momentum globally, it remains to be seen how these actions will shape the discourse and policies surrounding the conflict in the United States and beyond.
