Soros Prosecutor Freed Suspect Accused of Murder

A Virginia prosecutor who received hundreds of thousands of dollars from George Soros-backed political action committees accidentally freed a suspect accused of murder.

On Oct. 6, Loudoun County prosecutor Buta Biberaj’s office dropped second-degree murder charges against Stone Colburn, a 25-year-old who was accused last year of stabbing his brother’s girlfriend to death. The charges were dropped in an attempt for the Loudoun County Circuit Court to deem Colburn mentally fit to stand trial, and the suspect was slated to be given a new indictment in order to keep him in custody.

“Colburn was to remain in custody on the new charge. After the hearing, Colburn was delivered to the jail and erroneously released,” Biberaj’s office wrote in a press release, admitting that her deputies failed to get new charges approved by a judge before dropping the old ones.

However, the Loudoun County Sheriff’s Office disputed Biberaj’s account in a separate press release on Friday, saying that prosecutors did not file the new charges for concealment of a dead body until the following day.

In an attempt to deflect from the sheriff’s office release, Biberaj published a statement reading: “Our office is greatly disappointed by the LCSO’s recent press release that mischaracterizes the release of Colburn and their lack of accountability.

“It attempts to mislead the public and unfairly shift the blame to our office,” Biberaj added.

Following his release, Colburn was later found in Georgia after he and his parents Charles and Heather Colburn were pulled over by the Pooler Police Department. Colburn was taken into jail in Georgia, according to a police report.

Since November 2019, Biberaj has received more than $659,000 from the Justice and Public Safety Political Action Committee, a Democratic-leaning and Soros-funded super PAC based in Washington, D.C., according to Federal Election Commission reports.

Biberaj in June was hit with a complaint by the Virginia State Bar after a circuit court judge removed her from a criminal case for “deliberately misleading the Court and the public.”

Additionally, a local Fox affiliate interviewed a registered sex offender who was hired by Biberaj’s office and claimed he was allowed to work for her without going through a background check.
