Angel Studios Partners with Director of Sound of Freedom for New Movie
Angel Studios is thrilled to announce its partnership with the director of Sound of Freedom for another captivating film based on a true story. Scheduled for release next year, Cabrini will delve into the remarkable life of Francesca Cabrini, an Italian immigrant who defied all odds to become a prominent entrepreneur in the 19th century.
Directed by Alejandro Monteverde, Cabrini will be the second collaboration between Monteverde and Angel Studios. Their first film, Sound of Freedom, took the world by storm and became the biggest box office surprise of 2023.
A Hidden Heroine’s Journey
“Francesca Cabrini is an incredibly inspiring and influential figure in modern history, yet her story remains largely unknown,” said Liz Ellis, Chief Operating Officer of Angel Studios. “Despite facing seemingly insurmountable obstacles, Cabrini chose to challenge the status quo of her time, leaving a lasting impact on the world. We are thrilled to bring her unbelievable story to theaters this spring.”
Cabrini has received high praise from Angel Studios investors, who have rated it even higher than Sound of Freedom. The film will feature Cristiana Dell’Anna in the title role, alongside acclaimed actors such as John Lithgow, David Morse, Giancarlo Giannini, and Federico Castelluccio.
International Success of Sound of Freedom
The accolades for Cabrini come as Sound of Freedom continues to captivate audiences worldwide. The film has recently expanded its reach to international theaters, enchanting viewers in South Africa, Mexico, Guatemala, El Salvador, Colombia, Bolivia, Peru, and other countries since its release on August 18. Spanish audiences can also look forward to its release on October 11.
Sound of Freedom follows the gripping story of Tim Ballad, portrayed by Jim Caviezel, as he embarks on a mission to rescue children from a harrowing sex trafficking network in Colombia.
Since its debut on July 4, the film has amassed over $180 million in North America alone, surpassing the domestic box office totals of several major 2023 movies, including Indiana Jones and the Dial of Destiny.
