Sound of Freedom surpasses expectations with a $40M box office debut.

Sound of Freedom: A Thrilling Box Office Success

The opening weekend of Sound of Freedom proved to be a massive hit, earning a staggering $18 million and securing the coveted No. 3 spot at the box office. This gripping film, distributed by Angel Studios, delves into the remarkable true story of Tim Ballard, a former federal agent with Homeland Security. Ballard’s decision to leave his job and embark on a perilous journey into the jungles of Colombia to rescue children from the clutches of sex slavery forms the heart of this powerful narrative.

A Triumph Over Disney’s Indiana Jones

Sound of Freedom made waves on its opening day, surpassing even Disney’s latest Indiana Jones film to claim the top spot at the box office. Angel Studios’ Head of Theatrical Distribution, Brandon Purdie, expressed his excitement, stating, “As with our July 4th numbers, today’s numbers exceed our expectations, and we’re going to continue this momentum. Sound of Freedom has taken on a life of its own.” Purdie further shared the overwhelming response the film has received, with packed theaters, sold-out shows, and spontaneous standing ovations across the country.

In anticipation of its release, renowned music producer and songwriter Fernando Garibay composed the film’s theme song, aptly titled “Sound of Freedom.” Reflecting on his creative process, Garibay explained, “How are movements created? Through every march of war, there has been a battle song. I wanted to create a battle song. The music is the ultimate buffer to allow the transition to happen. That was the responsibility I felt we had.”

With a current box office gross of over $40 million and an A+ CinemaScore, Sound of Freedom continues to captivate audiences. The film, showcased in 2,850 theaters, boasts an impressive cast including Jim Caviezel from The Passion of the Christ, Academy Award winner Mira Sorvino from Mighty Aphrodite, and Bill Camp from 12 Years a Slave. Produced by Eduardo Verástegui and written and directed by Alejandro Monteverde, this true-life thriller is a must-watch cinematic experience.
