Woman in South Carolina dies in suspected alligator attack.
Tragic Alligator Attack Claims Life of Woman in South Carolina
A woman in South Carolina met a horrifying fate this week when she was attacked by an alligator while walking her dog near a golf course. The incident occurred in the Spanish Wells neighborhood of Hilton Head Island early Tuesday morning.
The Beaufort County Sheriff’s Office reported that Spanish Wells security personnel received a distress call regarding a possible alligator attack near a lagoon bordering the golf course.
Upon arrival, they discovered the lifeless body of a 69-year-old resident at the edge of the lagoon. Emergency efforts were hindered by an alligator that was guarding the woman. Thankfully, the alligator was safely removed, allowing the recovery of the woman’s body.
This unfortunate incident marks the second fatal alligator attack in South Carolina this year. In a similar incident last August, an 88-year-old woman fell into a pond while gardening and was killed by a nearly 10-foot alligator that stood guard over its prey.
