Mike Johnson, the speaker, accuses the Biden administration of deliberately causing a significant illegal immigration crisis
House Speaker Accuses Biden Administration of Creating Immigration Crisis
In a fiery interview on CBS News’s “Face The Nation,” House Speaker Mike Johnson (R-LA) boldly claimed that President Joe Biden’s administration deliberately orchestrated the current illegal immigration crisis at the U.S. southern border.
Johnson expressed deep concern over the overwhelming influx of illegal aliens, with a staggering 302,000 encounters in December alone. He described the situation as a “humanitarian catastrophe” and emphasized the significant national security risks it poses.
A Chaotic Reality
“The magnitude of the chaos here is difficult to describe,” Johnson stated. “Countless lives are adversely affected, with minor children being trafficked into the country. Additionally, fentanyl overdoses and poisoning have become a scourge on our nation.”
Johnson firmly pointed out that the responsibility for this chaos lies with the White House, as their policy choices directly contributed to the crisis. He criticized the administration for allowing transnational criminal organizations to thrive and called for a change in policy to rectify the situation.
According to Johnson, the chaos began immediately after Biden assumed office and began implementing new policies through executive orders.
A Call for Action
“Throwing more money at the problem won’t solve it,” Johnson asserted. “We need DHS Secretary Alejandro Mayorkas to enforce the law. We’ve been urging him to do his job since he took office, but unfortunately, he has done the opposite. He has repeatedly testified untruthfully before Congress.”

Johnson went on to express his belief that Secretary Mayorkas intentionally allowed the crisis to unfold, labeling him an ”abject failure.” He called for accountability and emphasized the need to address the intentional policy decisions that have led to this dire situation.

What steps should the Biden administration take to address the strained conditions faced by border patrol agents and effectively tackle the surge in illegal immigration
Legal immigrants crossing the U.S. southern border and the apparent lack of action from the Biden administration to address the issue. He argued that the surge in illegal immigration is a direct consequence of policy changes implemented by the new administration.
The House Speaker pointed out that the Biden administration’s decision to reverse several immigration policies put in place by the previous administration, namely the Migrant Protection Protocols and the construction of the border wall, has sent a message to potential immigrants that the United States has become more lenient towards illegal border crossings. This, according to Johnson, has incentivized individuals and families to make the dangerous journey to the U.S. in search of better economic opportunities and to take advantage of the more relaxed immigration policies.
Furthermore, Johnson accused the Biden administration of failing to provide adequate resources and support to border patrol agents. He highlighted the strained conditions faced by law enforcement officials who are ill-equipped to handle the record-breaking number of migrant apprehensions. Johnson argued that this lack of resources has emboldened smugglers and criminal organizations, leaving border patrol agents overwhelmed and unable to effectively tackle the issue.
The House Speaker also suggested that the Biden administration’s focus on providing a pathway to citizenship for undocumented immigrants already residing in the country has diverted attention away from addressing the immediate crisis at the border. He emphasized the need to prioritize border security and ensure a fair and legal immigration process.
Johnson stressed the need for bipartisan cooperation to effectively address the crisis. He called on Democrats and Republicans to come together and work towards finding tangible solutions that prioritize national security, uphold the rule of law, and protect the interests of American citizens.
In response to Johnson’s accusations, the Biden administration has defended its immigration policies, arguing that the surge in illegal immigration is a result of underlying factors such as violence, poverty, and corruption in Central American countries. The administration has expressed its commitment to implementing comprehensive immigration reform, including addressing the root causes of migration, improving the asylum process, and creating a more efficient immigration system.
As the immigration crisis at the U.S. southern border continues to escalate, it is essential for political leaders to engage in constructive dialogue and find common ground. The accusations leveled by House Speaker Mike Johnson should be thoroughly examined and debated to ensure transparency and accountability in addressing this pressing issue. It is imperative that the Biden administration takes swift and appropriate action to secure the border, provide resources to border patrol agents, and implement effective immigration policies that maintain the integrity of the immigration system and uphold the nation’s security.
