President Biden willingly participated in an interview over the past two days with Special Counsel Robert Hur, as part of an investigation into his alleged mishandling of classified documents. The White House confirmed this cooperation, emphasizing their commitment to transparency.
The interview concluded on Monday, with White House Counsel’s Office Spokesperson Ian Sams asserting that the administration has been “transparent” throughout the entire investigation.
“As we have said from the beginning, the President and the White House are cooperating with this investigation, and as it has been appropriate, we have provided relevant updates publicly, being as transparent as we can consistent with protecting and preserving the integrity of the investigation,” Sams said.
The investigation originated from a set of records dating back to President Biden’s tenure as vice president.
This collection included a “small number of documents with classified markings” and was discovered by the president’s personal legal team on November 2nd, 2022, at the Penn Biden Center.
The documents were found in a locked closet while preparing to vacate the office space at the center, which Biden used from mid-2017 until the start of his 2020 campaign.
The National Archives were promptly notified of this discovery and took possession of the documents on November 3rd, 2022.
Biden’s interview suggests that Special Counsel Hur is nearing the end of his investigation.
The interview took place while the White House staff was actively monitoring and responding to the deadly conflict between Hamas and Israel, following an unexpected attack by the Islamic terrorists.

The White House has maintained that the president’s mishandling of the documents was unintentional and that there was no intent to mishandle or disclose classified information.
“The President has been clear that he takes the handling of classified information very seriously and that it is our obligation to ensure that any mishandling is promptly addressed,” Sams stated.
The investigation into President Biden’s handling of classified documents has been ongoing since November 2022 when the documents were discovered. It is being overseen by Special Counsel Robert Hur, who was appointed by the Department of Justice to lead the investigation.
The investigation is focused on determining whether there was any criminal wrongdoing in relation to the mishandling of classified information. It is unknown at this time when the investigation will conclude and what potential consequences or actions may result from its findings.
President Biden’s willingness to participate in the interview with Special Counsel Hur demonstrates his commitment to transparency and cooperation with the investigation. The White House’s emphasis on being “as transparent as we can” further reinforces this commitment.
As the investigation nears its conclusion, it is essential for the American public to stay informed and aware of any developments or findings. The handling of classified information is a serious matter, and accountability is crucial to maintaining trust in the government.
While the investigation has not yet reached its final stages, President Biden’s participation in the interview is a step towards resolving the allegations and addressing any potential concerns. It remains to be seen what the outcome of the investigation will be and what impact it may have on the Biden administration.
In the meantime, it is important for the public to remain engaged and informed, upholding the principle of transparency and holding government officials accountable for their actions.
