Squad member ridiculed for brief 9-hour ‘strike’.
Mockery Ensues as Rep. Greg Casar Ends “Thirst Strike” After 9 Hours
Rep. Greg Casar (D., Texas) faced social media mockery after concluding his “thirst strike” that lasted a mere nine hours.
The progressive “Squad” member pledged not to drink water “until nurses require him to stop,” demonstrating ”solidarity” with construction workers and urging Congress to pass legislation mandating work breaks, as reported by the Hill.
Casar shared a photo of himself taking his “last drink of water” on Tuesday morning before heading to the Capitol steps, where he regularly received medical checkups to ensure his well-being.
Throughout the day, several progressive politicians, including Sen. Bernie Sanders (I., Vt.), Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez (D., N.Y.), and Sen. Ed Markey (D., Mass.), joined Casar on the steps.
Casar’s strike ended just shy of nine hours after it began, leading to conservatives mocking him on social media.
