Stacey Abrams Supports Abortion Up Until Birth In Some Cases
Stacey Abrams revealed her support Wednesday for abortions being conducted all the way up “until the time of birth” in some circumstances.
During an appearance on The View Wednesday, Abrams said abortion is “a decision that should be made between a woman and her doctor, that viability is the metric, and that if a woman’s health or life is in danger, then viability extends until the time of birth.” She did not elaborate on what constitutes a woman’s health or life being in danger.

“I believe that abortion is a medical decision, not a political decision,” she said. “And arbitrary, politically defined timelines are deeply problematic because they ignore the reality of medical and physiological issues.”
“For example, a six-week ban tells women they have to make reproductive choices before they know they’re pregnant. And that arbitrariness extends into these artificial timelines,” Abrams said.
She then claimed that no one believes “there should not be a limit,” adding that “the limit should not be made by politicians who don’t understand basic biology or, apparently, basic morality.”
“Abortion on demand and without apology” has become an increasingly popular slogan for activists at demonstrations in favor of abortion rights, contradicting Abrams’s claim.
Abrams is running as the Democratic candidate in the Georgia gubernatorial election, which will be held in November. She is vying for votes against incumbent Republican Gov. Brian Kemp, to whom she lost the last gubernatorial election and famously refused to concede.
The hosts spent most of the show discussing a bill introduced Tuesday by Sen. Lindsey Graham (R-SC), which would place a limit of 15 weeks on most abortions federally.
“It’s bad politics for Republicans. For a long time, my party has argued states should decide abortion rights,” former White House Director of Strategic Communications Alyssa Farah Griffin told her co-hosts. She added that Graham ought to spend time on economic issues instead, as they are at the forefront of people’s minds as inflationary pressure mounts.
“There is no such thing as people having late-term abortions. 1.3% of abortions are performed at greater than 21 weeks,” host Sara Haines said, further stating that they are “only done for heartbreaking medical reasons.”
The hosts fawned over Abrams during her appearance, with Sunny Hostin saying, “You didn’t traditionally concede, which I appreciated, because you cited voter suppression.”
Abrams said, “I’m not delusional,” claiming she has always been aware she is not currently the governor of Georgia. She said that she simply wanted to bring to light the issue of voter suppression in her state.

“Thank you for just admitting outright you didn’t win,” Farah said.
Abrams further said that she will “of course” support President Joe Biden in his 2024 reelection bid.
