Star Parker: Parents and Children Come First in Teachers Unions
The Rochester School District in Michigan offers a course called “History of Ethnic and Gender Studies.”
If my child was attending school there, I would be curious about why this is part of the K-12 education curriculum and what it is being taught.
Carol Beth Litkouhi, a mother, was curious enough to visit the school and ask for information about the program.
The school responded with a response of approximately “sorry, none of your business.”
Excuse me. I am sorry.
Litkouhi reached out to the Mackinac Center Legal Foundation who filed a suit against the school district. To release details about the program to the mother, Litkouhi requested information under the Freedom of Information Act. This request was also denied.
The Oakland County Circuit Court has now ruled in support of the school district’s claim, that teachers are not public employees because they belong to a teachers union.
Mackinac will appeal the absurd ruling.
Forget the legalities, let’s just look at the horrendous reality perpetrated by teachers unions in public schools against parents and children across America.
Check out the website of American Federation of Teachers. It is the second-largest teachers union in America. It’s an unapologetic megaphone of America’s left.
According to Investopedia “A labor union is an organization formed by workers … for the purpose of improving pay, benefits, and working conditions.”
Teachers unions can be more than just this. They exist to support a left-wing agenda uncompromisingly targeting our children.
AFT released a press release following the November elections, headlined “American Voters Resist Extremism in Win for Democracy.”
