Anna Paulina Luna declines invitation to Biden’s State of the Union as she calls it a ‘puppet show
Exclusive: Rep. Anna Paulina Luna Boycotts State of the Union, Calls Biden’s Presidency a “Puppet Show”
Florida congresswoman refuses to be part of “spin and lying”
Rep. Anna Paulina Luna (R-FL) has made a bold decision not to attend President Joe Biden’s State of the Union address to Congress next week, declaring that she will not be a part of the president’s ”puppet show.”
In a statement to the Washington Examiner, Luna emphasized the historical significance of the State of the Union as a traditionally nonpartisan event. However, her experiences in the House have led her to boycott the address, making her one of the first members of Congress to publicly announce her absence.
“Given the nature of the investigations I have been conducting along with other members of House Oversight, I cannot in good conscience sit through hours of spin and lying to the American people,” Luna explained.
Luna also criticized Biden for his involvement in funding both sides of the ongoing conflict in Israel, which has put his approval ratings and performance in the 2024 primary elections at risk. As support from key voting blocs like Muslim Americans and Palestinian supporters dwindles, Biden’s approach to the Middle East crisis will be closely scrutinized during his State of the Union address.
While most members of Congress attend the address, some choose to stay in their home states or refuse to go out of principle. Luna firmly stated, “I will not pretend that this president is leading our country down a path of prosperity. We are in dangerous times.”
“Make no mistake, the world is in turmoil because of Joe Biden. I will not be a part of the puppet show,” Luna concluded.
Luna, a member of the House Oversight Committee, is among the staunch conservatives supporting the House GOP’s impeachment inquiry into Biden. She has been vocal about her desire to see the “corrupt” president impeached.
Her decision to skip the State of the Union follows Rep. Scott Perry’s call for House Republican leadership to block Biden’s address. Perry echoed Luna’s sentiments, stating that there is no reason to invite Biden for more propaganda and blame on the American people.
Other Republicans in Congress are also seeking to prevent Biden’s address. Sen. Joni Ernst introduced a bill in the Senate that would block the State of the Union if the White House fails to submit the budget and national security proposal on time. Rep. Buddy Carter sponsored a similar bill in the House, emphasizing the need for transparency and accountability.
As the controversy surrounding Biden’s State of the Union address unfolds, the nation waits to see which topics the president will address. Republicans are expected to oppose his approach to immigration and the economy, particularly if he attempts to shift blame onto the Republican Party.
The Washington Examiner reached out to Perry for comment on his plans to attend the State of the Union.

How might Luna’s decision to boycott the State of the Union affect her relationship with pro-Israel groups and Im-American communities in Florida?
Im-Americans and pro-Israel groups is crucial in Florida, Luna’s decision to boycott the State of the Union could be seen as a strategic move to distance herself from the president’s policies and maintain her support within her constituency.
In her statement, Luna further expressed her concerns about the lack of transparency and accountability in the Biden administration. She highlighted the ongoing investigations in the House Oversight Committee and suggested that attending the State of the Union would only serve to perpetuate the narrative of deception and falsehood that she believes is prevalent in the current administration.
Luna’s decision to boycott the State of the Union is not without controversy. Critics argue that attending such events is a duty and responsibility of elected officials, regardless of their political differences or grievances. They argue that being present at the State of the Union allows representatives to engage in dialogue and advocate for their constituents’ interests.
However, Luna’s defiance also underscores the current polarized political climate in the United States. The deep divisions between Republicans and Democrats have led to a level of hostility and mistrust that is perhaps unprecedented in recent history. Elected officials like Luna, who reject the bipartisan nature of events like the State of the Union, are signaling their unwillingness to cooperate and engage with opposing ideologies.
This boycott could have significant ramifications for Luna’s political future. While it may solidify her support amongst her conservative base, it may also alienate her from more moderate voters who expect their representatives to engage in constructive dialogue and compromise with the opposing party. The perceived reluctance to work across the aisle could potentially harm Luna’s ability to effectively represent her constituents and achieve her legislative goals.
The State of the Union boycott by Rep. Anna Paulina Luna highlights the growing ideological discord and political polarization in American politics. While her decision may resonate with some Americans who share her concerns, it also raises important questions about the role of elected officials and their responsibilities to the American people. Ultimately, whether this boycott will be seen as a principled stand or a missed opportunity for dialogue and compromise, remains to be seen.
