‘Stay the F Out of This Issue, Jackasses’: Biden Admin Flooded With Negative Comments Over Gas Stove Regulations
With negative reactions to potential gas stove regulations, hundreds of Americans have been flooding President Joe Biden’s Consumer Product Safety Commission. Commenters are urging the administration not to enter their homes.
Since it began to gather public input on gas stoves earlier this month, more than 400 people submitted comments to the commission. This was in response to Richard Trumka Jr. (Biden-backed commissioner), who claims they pose a threat to human health. “hidden hazards” American homes. These comments accounted for approximately 99 percent. Washington Free Beacon Review revealed that they are against new regulations regarding gas stoves. Many of the negative comments are positive, with many people describing their years of gas stove usage with no adverse effects. However, some comments are not so cordial.
“Stay the f out of this issue, jackasses,” One comment was made. “How about this, try pulling your head out of your ass,” Another suggestion. “Please inhale my gas emissions,” A commenter identified as “Alfred” asked for his assistance. “Ligma Taynt.”
Two months ago, Trumka declared that a gas stove ban would be in effect. “on the table.” “This is a hidden hazard,” Biden appointee spoke out in favor of using gas to cook. “Products that can’t be made safe can be banned.” These remarks caused a political storm and both the Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPC) and the White House swiftly reacted to the threat. “The president does not support banning gas stoves,” Karine Jean Pierre, Biden’s press secretary was assured of this in January
In the weeks that followed, the Biden administration started moving to target gas stoves via two different government agencies. Biden’s Energy Department published last month an analysis of its proposed cooking appliances efficiency regulations. It acknowledged that it would prohibit half of all gas stoves from being sold in the United States. The Association of Home Appliance Manufacturers countered that the regulations would nullify a larger portion of the market. They cited a December Energy Department test in which 20 of 21 gas stove models failed to meet the proposed rule’s efficiency standards.
The White House declined to comment.
While some commenters used inflamatory methods to voice their disapproval with gas stove regulations, many respondents preferred to share their positive experiences with the appliance. One example is the Respondent. “pleased owner of five natural gas appliances” The “fourth or fifth generation of homeowners in my family who have owned natural gas appliances.”
Commenter continued to reveal that she was three months prematurely conceived and later died. “seasonal allergy-induced asthma,” She said that her gas appliances had not contributed to the condition.
“No doctor has ever suggested that the detectable amount of [nitrogen oxides] from cooking on a stove or seasonal use of an interior natural gas fireplace could cause my asthma,” She wrote. “Scaring the public is not the sensible way to address decarbonization and legitimate human health concerns. Climate change is real. Energy efficiency is smart. But this is a silly waste of time.”
Trumka threatened to ban gas stoves in her home after the Rocky Mountain Institute, a Colorado-based green power group, published a December study that found that 13 percent of U.S. children with asthma were using gas stoves. Academic experts have criticized both the methodology and the biases of Rocky Mountain Institute’s study. Yale University professor Harvey Risch said the following: Free Beacon The study “does not do any research on possible association between residential natural gas use and risk of childhood asthma.” Openly, the Rocky Mountain Institute works to implement “an ‘economy-wide transformation’ away from oil and gas,” The Chinese government has also partnered with it to accomplish this mission, Free Beacon Reports from January
Biden’s regulatory actions are not limited to gas stoves. In February, Biden’s Energy Department proposed new efficiency standards for washing machines that would reduce their use of water and energy. “confront the global climate crisis.” Those mandates could lead to a stinky situation—manufacturers and industry groups argue that the changes will reduce cleaning performance and lead to dirtier clothes and longer cycles.
The Consumer Product Safety Commission’s review on gas stoves has not yet revealed if there will be regulations. A spokesperson for the Commission told the Free Beacon Regulations can be taken at any time “would require a vote by the full commission, which has not expressed support for any regulation” At this point. Alexander Hoehns-Saric, chairman of the Commission, stated in a March 1, statement that the regulatory body was merely studying. “the chronic hazards that can arise from toxic emissions.” Still, Trumka has not backed down from his calls to regulate gas stoves—he said the vote to seek public input on the appliances marked “an important milestone on the road to protecting consumers from potential hidden hazards in their homes—the emissions from gas stoves.”
