Montana Residents Can⁢ Receive Property Tax⁤ Rebate⁣ of up ‍to $675

Residents‍ in Montana‍ have until the end of the month to take advantage of a property tax rebate program that offers up to $675 per taxpayer. This initiative aims⁤ to provide immediate⁤ relief to eligible‍ residents burdened‍ by ⁢high property taxes.

Eligible residents can conveniently⁢ apply for the tax rebate through an online portal, which has been open since‍ August and will remain accessible until October ‌1st. Alternatively, ‌they can choose to apply using a paper form.

Building ⁣on Reforms for Long-Term Property Tax‌ Relief

“Property taxes are too high, which is why we prioritized and secured immediate property tax relief⁣ for Montanans this legislative session,” stated Governor Greg Gianforte (R-MT) in July. He emphasized ‍the importance of continuing to work towards reducing the long-term burden of ‌property taxes.

The amount of the rebate depends on the taxpayer’s ⁤property tax payments for their primary residence in Montana, with a ⁢maximum rebate of‍ $675.

To qualify ⁤for the rebate, taxpayers must have owned and lived in a residence in the state for⁣ at least seven⁣ months during the 2022 tax year. Additionally, they must have been billed and‌ paid for⁤ the property taxes on their residence. The rebate⁤ program allows only ⁤one rebate per household, as per the state’s guidelines.

Accepted applicants can expect to receive their rebates within ‍30 days if‍ they applied through the online portal, or up to 90 days if they ‌submitted a paper application.

Officials in Montana have also announced⁢ that a similar property tax rebate program ‍will be available ⁤next year, based on the ⁤2023 tax year.
