Claim your $500 rebate in Georgia before the 11-day deadline.
Georgia Taxpayers to Receive Up to $500 in Rebates
Exciting news for taxpayers in the Peach State! While most have already received their 2022 tax rebates, those who received an extension on their income tax filing deadline are in for a treat. They can expect rebates of up to $500.
The amount of the rebate depends on the taxpayer’s filing status and tax liability. Single filers can receive up to $250, heads of households up to $375, and joint filers up to $500.
Extensions and Storm Relief
If you filed your 2022 tax returns by the regular deadline in April and were eligible for the rebate, you’ve likely already received your payment. However, if you received a lawful extension, your rebate will be sent once you’ve filed your tax returns. Residents in storm-affected areas of Georgia were given extensions to file their taxes until Oct. 16.
Qualifications for the Rebate
To qualify for the rebate, you must have filed your income tax returns for both 2021 and 2022, had a tax liability in 2021, and be a Georgia resident, part-year resident, or nonresident.
According to Gov. Brian Kemp, Georgia’s surplus tax refunds are a result of responsible budgeting and prioritizing the well-being of its residents during the pandemic. While the nation faces economic challenges, Georgia is committed to putting money back into the hands of hardworking taxpayers.
