Stimulus update: Direct $500 payments for more than 300 families to be sent Wednesday
FAamilies receive money from a Guaranteed Income California Programs will receive $500 their next payment on Wednesday.
Sonoma County As part of the Pathway to Income Equity program for families, 305 families were selected to receive $500 per month for two-years. The next payment is scheduled for Wednesday. Officials will examine the impact of additional income on poverty reduction and economic mobility for families with young kids. According to The Sonoma County Administrator’s Office.

“These payments will help families with young children who are often struggling under the double burden of the high costs of housing and child care — typically the two highest household expenses,” Chris Coursey is the chairman of Sonoma County Board of Supervisors. “The information we gain from this pilot program will help shape future efforts to improve the health and welfare of our community.”

Only applicants who met the criteria for the program were eligible to apply. This included being a Sonoma County resident. Other requirements included being pregnant, or the parent of a child under 5, and being affected by COVID-19A person with a household income less than 185% of what the federal poverty level is. For a family of 3, the federal poverty level is $42,606
There were 6,450 online applications that were reviewed. 2,383 of them met the eligibility criteria. The application period for the program began on September 1, and ended on October 31, last year.
