Stimulus update: Direct payment worth up to $400 to be paid to Massachusetts residents today

Recipients of a food and utility subsidy program in Chelsea, Massachusetts, will receive their next payment from the program on Saturday.

Payments ranging from $200 to $400 are going to 738 selected households. The funds from this program, called the Chelsea Eats program, are meant to subsidize food and utility bill payments. A Chelsea city spokesperson told the Washington Examiner that the funds would be loaded on recipients’ debit cards, which were issued in early March.

The program’s’s website states that” recipients of the program will be chosen using a lottery system.” ” City staff is reviewing products and giving desires to candidates with children under 18, disabled individuals, soldiers, elderly over 65, households who are ineligible for other federal assistance, households with a female-identifying head of household, and families with members with marginalized gender identities ,” the city people said.

Families had to live in Chelsea and have a home income that was 30 % below the local middle in order to be available. To participate in the program, households of one would need to earn less than$ 29, 450, and those of two would require a minimum income of$ 33, 650. Each new family member saw an increase in the amount.

The amount given is based on the number of people living in the home. One household will receive$ 200, two households will get$ 300, and a household with three or more people won’t get$ 400.

The recipients of this program will receive this cost for the next time. The initial payment was made on March 15 and will be made in full on May 15.

The Washington Examiner was informed by the voice that the system would end following the last payment in May.
